Jokes when casting. It shows unprofessional-ism when making up jokes on the spot at the end of the game. Stop giving cliche jokes!
I really don't understand this criticism.
Tasteosis jokes around all the time, and they basically make the GSL so much more enjoyable in the early stages of the the tournament.
Joking around isn't unprofessional at all, if your job is to entertain people.

really solid show tonight. awesome games, little bit of stream issue but they seemed to fix it on the fly. casting has improve IMMENSLY. overall super satisfied even though i've been happy since day1.

I haven't listened to the jokes, but I don't see why everyone keeps picking on the casters for making jokes.
Don't Artosis and Tasteless make jokes during the GSL? I don't really see how the jokes degrade the quality of the NASL.
Again, I haven't watched the NASL closely so maybe I'm missing something.
EDIT: Defacer beat me to it! :D

I haven't tuned in for a few days. Decided to check in tonight for Idra vs Cloud and Boxer vs Sen. I feel like things are getting better. I can view the stream at 480p atm( is it just EU viewers who are stuck at 240p?) and the casting was... eh. There's a lot to think about in terms of production(including the persistent sound issues) and probably the structure of the tournament itself but right now there's no train wreck.

Here I am again, posting. i feel you guys have improved a lot.
I thought that it would be cool if once a week, or maybe once a month if you guys could discuss the Best games and give insight on what happened on those games. Maybe even bring a guest analyzer?
I understand if you guys can't do it, but i really love how much Incontrol and the others know about the game and it would be pretty cool see you guys analyzing the top games.
Cheers

Don't have casters in front of a background for like an hour. Just go from game to game

My tip: don't listen to this guy.

Joking around is fine...but please tell Gretorp to lay off the internet memes. I dont need to hear him quote youtube's greatest hits.
Hope you guys continue to improve though, the games have been excellent so far.

I feel the video selection interface is kind of off. It should be organized in a neater way, also please show the races of the matchups as I am not familiar with every pro, so when I am looking for specific match-up, it is difficult to find it.

He's analyses are good and I would not mind listening to him from time to time as a guest but NOT as a regular caster. Another problem I find with iNcontrol as a caster for NASL is that he's a caster AND a player/contestant therefore I don't find it fair for the other players since iNcontrol has access to all the replay files and "inside" knowledge. I'm not saying he is cheating but is a BIG conflict of interest. Those jokes are ok when Jeff makes them once a week on State of the Game, but not on a daily basis. The "caster = player" issue doesnt seem right to me either. Show nested quote +On April 25 2011 12:03 maganez wrote: Background music while casters are talking is just distracting. I dont know if any other broadcast has music in their non-game analysis. What is the point of that anyways? I also think the NASL has one other problem and that is the problem of DRAMA. There is no drama in the NASL because it is 9 weeks and everyone plays once every week and the first few weeks wont be that dramatic, because there are no games which "must be won to stay in the competition". Sure there are players who are gathering up wins and dont lose and will be on top of their group in the end, but that is all a gradual development which simply takes far too long.
I think the lack of drama is only an issue if people are impatient. In a season of 9 weeks, going down 0-2 is a huge deal when not getting top two means you face not automatically qualifying for next season. Again, making up two or three game deficits is huge when you're talking about 9 total games.

I love the games and incontrol and gretorp's casting. I'm sure production values will improve over time. My only gripe would be audio quality and FPS (after seeing IPL, but I saw the IPL VODs so maybe the IPL stream didn't have like 60fps or something ridiculous like the VODs)

I think the problem is that they're not funny enough ...
Really, the only solution to that is experience. I mean, Artosis and Tasteless didn't hit their stride really until GSL season 3.

IMO, i love it when Geoff makes jokes, if its lull in the game. I almost got the Artosis, Tasteless feel, although on a different level. Little bumpy with the production, but its improving. Good job Nasl!

Not trying to be a jerk but Gretorp needs to learn the names of the upgrades. He is a great player and a good announcer in general, but hearing "thermal lancers" is simply grating to me. I don't think I am alone here..

Chill made a well thought out and valid point about a dozen pages ago, stating that NASL has delivered what they set out to at their charge of $25.00. While I certainly agree with that portion of his argument I feel that it is also fundamentally flawed, and that is because service level was never taken into account.
The best example would be if you went to a McDonalds ordered a double cheeseburger and fries you receive them and they're cold and stale, would you find that acceptable? Probably not To the same level they did deliver exactly what you ordered however it was not up to your specifications now it comes down to a set expectation of what people want to derive from an experience.
I believe a lot of people bought into the idea that it would be seamless and flawless which they were a bit lead on to believe, however I do agree with you that is also a symptom of buying before you knew what to expect and going off assumptions.
I feel that they probably did rip off a lot of people charging $25.00 for VODS and a stream without testing any waters to see if they could provide a quality product, but I also cannot side with people who bought blindly.
The most serious of the issues I feel faces the NASL besides the massive technical issues which should be expected with any new large scale event such as the NASL, The GSL also had a bit of a rough start as well and has overcome it.
However I feel the NASL does not have anything going for it to overcome the hurdles that they have, Their casters are simply lackluster and seem to have no real driving passion for what they're doing. While the games themselves may be entertaining it will never be enough to push the entertainment value past what it is, I watch most of the games muted because it's simply painful.
When you watch the GSL. TSL, IPL, Proleague/MSL/OSL all the casters are very charismatic and generally have a passion and love for what they're doing. The best example would be Chill, he does not commentate tons and tons of games but the TSL he does. And his passion for what the TSL means to the team liquid community and his charismatic personality show when he commentates.
I do not see that from either Incontrol or gretrop.. they simply are bland and boring

Man I sure am glad you guys are here to give them criticism otherwise they'd never succeed yay good job guys.

Would you feel better about the NASL if incontrol and gretorp wore bikinis?

Are they not going to release replays? They said they would give replays for premium members when i paid out. I might have paid the money for the hd and vods anyway, but was definitely one of the reasons that tipped me over to take the plunge and to not give us something they promised when you're paying for it is really a dick move.

Dude, I've payed for the pass too, and don't ever remember anyone saying that they were releasing replays.
I mean, the piracy would just run rampant.
