Great news though and good to see more and more tournaments realising it's the only real solution to the sound issues.

We are doing everything in our power to make sure Columbus and future events go as flawlessly as they can in respect to the LIVE Stream as well as the tournament it self. There is this information posted in http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=211390 thread as well. Looks like MLG is doing the extra effort and hoping to fix the issues. However, it would've been even better if they looked at what Korea (GSL or MSL/OSL) was doing and learned from that. Then maybe Dallas would not have happened. Just saying ![]() To ensure the player doesn't hear a darn thing, you need: 1. Soundproof booth 2. Industrial-grade noise blockers 3. Ear buds. 4. Have the speakers face away from the stage. Then commentators can scream as loud as they want without worry.

1. noise isolation ear buds 2. heavy duty ear muffs 3. facing the speakers away from these booths 4. playing music in the booths 5. keeping a booth babe in the booths (seemed to work for the msl) I dont think you need ac maybe just ventilation since mlg venues seem to be freezing and sc players need to keep their hands warm edit- also you guys need to fill up the dead air between games leaving people alone like that kinda makes them lose interest fast. Dream hack used a lot of user created content and the NASL got the when cheese fails guys to create content for them.

Sundance made this a directive. To quote him: "We're doing booths. Figure out how to make it happen. And make sure they're actually sound proof." We're working on it. Should have more word soon. Please give us some really good info and specs once it's all figured out. I'm really skeptical of booths because they're just sound buffers most of the time and can actually be worse because they can isolate players from masking noise without effectively reducing overall levels enough to matter. I'm glad you say they will actually be soundproof (which is a really big claim). I would love details on how they are to be made, what sound proofing features they will use, what materials, etc. It's just the nerd in me that wants to know, it's not a challenge or anything.

I'm really hyped to see what these soundproof booths will be like. Not only will it help the playing experience, but it should also be quite important from the live audience perspective now that they can turn up the caster's volume and have the audience actually hear Day9 and friends. Soundproof booths should really make MLG a much more legit tournament.

About the gazillions matches, booths are only required when the casters are casting this particular match (so the caster can cast to live audience too). As only one game is broadcasted at a time, only 2 booths (or 4 for dual streams) are needed.

Having four would be ideal so that the next two players could set up while the game being broadcast is ongoing. The delay between casted games for setup was horrendous. To be honest, Dreamhack did just fine with two booths. Immediately after a game the winner would go out for an interview while staffers removed/set up the gear for the next player. I bet they would even check to see that things were working. There was literally no downtime. Most of the downtime was filled by user created content like the husky scv love song or the baneling song. Still, the downtime was always rather short, especially if you take into account the cool interviews and funny 2GD jokes that won't really downtime. I think every tournament that aims to put on a serious show should try to emulate what dreamhack did
