That is a good female caster. Good voice inflection aka no GIANT pitch high/low scale, very understandable. And can really hype up battles. Wish she had her own computer though, looks like she's backseat gaming, hahaha. Edit: She's not British, she's German btw. | ||

Many people know more about the game than her and have better English. Why should they be overlooked? Because she's foreign or a female? This sounds a lot like affirmative action. In the real world the best qualified person gets the job, and Kelly just isn't the best. If you want to fill a diversity requirement watch him. All in all though the online community should have handled themselves better. Relentlessly insulting someone over the internet is sad. | ||

Having said that. I think its perfectly acceptable for paying customers (and less so random viewers) to be able to voice their opinion on her commentating. Some people have the means, abilities, and circumstances to be able to do something like what Kelly was/is trying to do. I think the methods (if youd call it that) that people used to voice their opinion are wrong. It was cruel, and rather than be constructive, they tore down. My opinion is that Kelly's accent made it too difficult to fully enjoy the games. As an english commentator she needs to improve the most important thing required: her english. Do I think she should give up? Absolutely not. But if she wants to do something like commentating on the worlds largest stage, she needs to focus on the positive and constructive criticism. So 1) Improve in the areas she is lacking 2) Ignore the assholes and trolls and focus on people who are giving constructive counsil Doing this will give her a concrete fanbase that will completely stomp the vocal minority. But equally annoying to them are the white knights, who arent so much defending her casting but the fact that she is a small, petite, cute (believe me she is very cute) asian girl who is trying her damn best at casting SC2. And it is impossible for them not to jump on that horse, get that white armor (+6 attack vs. Trolls), get that shield+spear and head right at us. Try to understand that there is a huge majority of people who could not understand her, we arent being mean. I thought the goddamn vuvuzela's at the World Cup were annoying as hell and i had to mute the TV to enjoy them, am i racist!!!? Do i hate Africa!! No, as a black man myself i found them annoying. And it made the whole thing much less enjoyable for me and many others. There were defenders of vuvuzelas too, people who tried to turn the whole thing into a Black culture vs White culture and it was pathetic attempt at creating drama. Vuvuzelas were bad for the World Cup, period. Many people agree Kelly was not up to par for the job for many reasons, many people agree and none of us will feel guilty saying this. | ||
