This is amazingly cool, but what did Artosis do at around 2:11, when he went through all his keys 1-9?
Is that you, John Wayne? Is this me?

Was NonY at WCG 2005? I was looking for him in the crowd and didn't see him.

According to previous posts in this thread, NonY played at the Texas qualifiers for the WCG US Finals, but he lost to Tasteless in what was regarded as a rather questionable set of matches.

What is so questionable in winning 6 matches out of 10?

He didn't win 6 matches out of 10, not sure where you got that. He was 3-0d in the first Bo5, and won 3-2 in the second. So he actually won 3 out of 8 games. He only had to win one Bo5 since he was in the winners bracket, while NonY was from the losers bracket and had to win two. Thus Tasteless qualified and not NonY.

So what's questionable about that?

Every1 gets a chance to lose in a double elim setup...

Because it's just retarded to do 2 sets. If you want to give the guy from the winners bracket an advantage you let him start the set with 1-0 or something like that.

watching this video was truely inspiring and struck a cord in my heart that brought back all the memories of the early days of bw. I have been playing so much sc 2 lately i have froget about all the great things that have happened over the years and seeing this video(by the way thank god to who ever made this, it is a true gem)has put a smile on my face in the somewhat dull life of mine.

It's double elimination. Why should the winner of the winner's bracket be the only one that has to be eliminated once?

So which wcg was it that both day and artosis qualified for? I thought in #100 he was talking about this tournament when they both got to the finals and didn't really care who won since both 1st and 2nd were going to the next tournament.

form my interpretation, the thing that is controversial is that tasteless won every one of his games on the same map. he had some kind of crazy strategy that only worked on this one island map, and since loser picks the map, the games looked something like this:

first bo5: nony wins 3-0

first game, second bo5: tasteless picks his good map and wins
second game: Nony wins
third game: tasteless picks same map, same strategy, wins
forth game: Nony wins
fifth game: tasteless picks same map, same strategy, wins

honestly, i can understand why nony is a little upset about the loss.

Man. Incontrol wasn't kidding. Day9 was an emotional mess at these sorts of tournaments. There's a passionate guy right there.

Watch the vod of Nada vs CheckPrime, Nada does the same thing in the beginning. Mayb this is Artosis' attempt to emulate the Genius Terran.

Lots of people hotkey their starting building to 1-0. It's a common technique.

Giving the person in the winners' bracket a set up is standard protocol. Giving them a game doesn't make sense and is not standard.

Okay, let's discuss new stuff!

Who is talking about extended series?

Simply double elim tournaments aka winner of the winner bracket has not used his right to lose yet, hence ''double elim''.

Artosis looks still same, just little older now.
Day[9] looked much better back there, he actually looks like bigger nerd now
And Tasteless looks much much batter now, he looked like criminal there, I would be scared when meet him in dark alley :o

EDIT: He looked more like J. Travolta in Pult fiction with shorter and scarier hair

What is the point of this post? You know that I know the format. You don't provide any defense of the format. You don't understand the connection to extended series. You contribute absolutely nothing. If you don't understand something, don't participate in a discussion about it.

For some reason moveis like that make me really sad. Even though I love how the community has gotten bigger and there is more money for the players etc it feels to me like the old "feeling" is gone. I miss going to an event like WCG, the hype before and the great community chats in between eveything. It just doesnt exist anymore.

So your comment was in the wrong topic.

Nothing wrong with the double elim tournament system, infact any other way would make no sense.
