Destiny is nowhere near the level of any other root member. Gotta love all the armchair critics. Catz gonna train destiny good. Um... so basically you just agreed he isn't anywhere near as good and needs intense training.
Even if that is true that doesn't make it a "bad joke" as the poster he was responding to hoped. It would be very strange if a player had to be top class before he joined a team since becoming top class is often dependant on just having a good team. They obviously think he has potential which is not directly correspondent to his current skill level.

He can...but I kinda hope he doesn't. I love his stream and he occasionally plays great, but ROOT has better proven players that should get their slots over him. Drewbie/qxc/Mini/Kiwikaki/(Slush/Catz/Ddoro) kinda max out the 5 and I don't think he's at their level yet. He may be soon, though, considering Mini's skyrocketing improvement after joining.

haha, go steven. after all the joking about being on root, it actually happens.

i wish him and ROOT best luck! the retard-magnet ? best luck at root, destiny! User was warned for this post The retard magnet is one if the most popular destiny videos on youtube. Pretty sure this guy shouldn't have been warned for this ;x It is a compliment not a flame. Not that warns really matter. Thanks, I've made a note for the other mods to ignore that warning. On March 02 2011 19:13 Encrypto wrote:On March 02 2011 17:19 Saracen wrote: are you serious... Are you serious? Have some respect. This thread is not about Destiny as a player, it's about his accomplishment making it on ROOT's team. Shouldn't you know the forum etiquette? Either way, it's completely their decision - not yours. You're supposed to be a TL mod, but you act like a common whiny flamer, posting rude and demeaning comments. Destiny is a respected member of this community, and from what you can read above, Catz has legitimate reasons for Destiny's acquisition. Therefore, and I may be banned for even saying this (but I feel it is my right to stand up for this belief), I believe that not only did you overstep your bounds as both a TL mod (who should abide by TL rules and set an example of respect to the community) but as a poster as well. As thus, I truly believe you deserve a temp ban, as would have been standardly issued to any other average troll/flamer. I checked this thread, and the only post by Saracen is the one you quoted: "Are you serious...". It's an expression of surprise or disbelief which you seem to read a lot into. I wouldn't warn/ban a normal user for that, and there's no reason to do so for a mod. I am warning you, not for standing up for your beliefs, but for calling a mod, who has spent a ton of time improving the community, a "common whiny flamer" based on a single ambiguous comment. If you expressed your opinion in a more reasonable manner, I would have had no problem it. Because he did not display any type of 'pleasant' disbelief, it can only imply negativity. (I.e. Disbelief that Destiny made the team, which is not positive). I canthink of no way that this can be ambiguous because nobody posts a post like this, especially with the use of the ellipsis, that is simply neutral. Because it is not positive, it must then be negative. Also, I apologize for assuming that you would normally temp ban a user for saying such a thing if that is not true. It's pretty silly how quickly fanboys jump on any hint of negativity without considering any external factors. I've known Paulo for a while, and I've known the ROOT Team for a while. I've also played many ladder games with Destiny. Maybe I should have PM'd Paulo about it instead of posting in this thread, but if I have any misgivings, am I not allowed to express them in the appropriate thread? Paulo's post answered my questions, which is why I didn't feel the need to elaborate. But seriously, you need to chill. If you have a problem with moderation here, take it up with me (or any of the mods), or post about it in Website Feedback. There's no need to derail the thread (or any thread) into TL-mods-are-so-biased whine fest. If you disagree with the content of my post, then you can PM me about it.

im just getting into starcraft from high level wow arenas and i know exactly what catz means by the mindset destiny already has being the most imporant aspect of a player. anyone can learn builds mechanics and micro, but some players just dont have (and will never have) the creativity and mindset required to make clutch plays at high level. its something you just cant teach
destiny's mechanics are lacking but he can get there now that he has quit his job and moved to sc2 fulltime. once the mechanics come together he is going to be capable of the sick creative play we see from everyone else on root

And this is the power of networking. Make good friends with one person in the clan and then dig your way deeper. I remember one other clan who was trying to pick up Destiny, poking, proding and begging for him to join their clan, laughing about how Steven thought he could join ROOT.
He's not as high up as CatZ or Slush is, but lets see if he can improve.
|
Great news! I'm hoping for tons of awesome practice games, clan wars and tourneys on stream with lots of improve.

Dont hate on ROOT... it's not like any of their prior recruitments have been bad.... all their players are really legit. If Destiny isn't a top player right now, I'd expect him to get there within the next few months if hes serious about it, and I think ROOT sees that too.
|
I didn't expect this to happen as soon as it did, though I'm sure most people saw it coming. I hope he gets really good because he has an interesting personality and I think he could add a reasonable amount to Esports. GL Destiny.

I don't want to derail the thread but since someone mentioned it... it kind of sucks that as he joins this team, he has no chance of participating in the NASL because he is joining such a good team. While I still don't find it surprising that he joined ROOT, it seems like the rule will discourage many players to join in the future and make the team even stronger.

Honestly, unless he's a top player on a team like root he probably shouldn't even be going to the NASL.

What a shame. ROOT was hands down my favorite team until this. Sad day.

nice random hating. your as useless as early game HT's in 1.3

I don't understand all the destiny hate.
When I joined I was completely horrible, I can look back and see so many mistakes and problems I had mechanically. I was NOWHERE close to anyone in root when I joined.
When catz trys to find people to join, he is looking for potential, and to see if they can grow, get better.

Cant say i saw this coming, but great choice for root! Destiny's been improving drastically with the small practice sessions against Minigun, and others Thundertoss finds for him. Having all the Root players available to practice with should skyrocket Destiny's play.

Mini I understand he is your friend. It has nothing to do with his skill level. Personally I can not stand him because he acts like an immature little kid all the time. Not what most would consider 'pro' attitude. He will only be a detriment in trying to bring esports to a bigger crowd.
|
Dvalen obviously fails to see that there might be a link between the number of posts in this thread, the number of faithful viewers on the Destiny stream, and bringing esport to a bigger crowd.
Steven is an entertainer, and he has so many more layers to him than you see at a glance.
