Hi TLers, I am the host of a quick, 10 minute show from the Protoss perspective! The episode list has been created (but not posted haha) and I shall strive my best to stick with it! Just look at the episode list to get an idea of what's been done so far!

If the show isn't live at 9pm PST, watch for the VODs, they will go up soon after that

Link please. And I doubt 10 minutes will teach me anything new >< I am excited though.
This sounds very interesting. Will definitely watch.. if we get a link in time
I'm so sorry! Two things I have already blundered on: Show time and show link! The original post has been edited, thanks for pointing that out!
Just finished broadcasting, thanks to those who were there physically and/or mentally
A VOD of the show is available at the site for those who were unable to attend!
Thanks! Also, feel free to add any criticism/praise!

Just watch the VOD. I liked the show and the build order. I will be tuning in often. Great Job.
definitely going to start watching. That BO is pretty legit. Thanks! :D

Just watched the VOD. I liked the show and the build order. I will be tuning in often. Great Job.
thanks a lot! i will post the next "airing" time when it comes!
i watched the VOD, that build order is pretty neat. nice job on the show
pretty good man. awesome.
I watched the Vod, the build order was interesting enough to give a try. Does this work well for you PvP? The show was good, your personality and voice was good, and your bed was good. Nice!
I watched the vod because I'm retarded and didn't exactly know when 9 pm was(I'm pretty sure it didnt say PST at first okay )
Very nice show, will definitely watch from now on!
pretty great show. during the episode i feel like i truly understood the importance of which mineral patches are favorable to send your building probe back to to maximize early game income. its like a whole sub game in itself, i wonder if someone has recorded the distances of each mineral patch on any given map in relation to the nexus. like when attempting to saturate a natural expansion early in the game, it would totally make sense (if you had the apm to) to have your few probes paired on the closer minerals, rather than just sending them blindly to find their own way. /end rant
im going to practice this build right now, tyty
Thanks OP, it's great to see a good Protoss player doing this. I'll definitely have an experiment with this build, and I'll be sure to watch any future episodes (probably the VOD due to timezone differences).
Especially for a first show, you provided some really quality stuff. If you have the time this may be something worth pursuing considering the general community response.
Very cool! Would love to see some more. I'd suggest that you move off of Livestream though; their quality is not as good as sites like Justin.TV.
Thanks again for all who watched...
For the mineral patches, I used to spam click to "get my apm up" as they say, but I found that my APM in battles was no different whether I did that spam in the beginning or not. Then I tried out my new version of the worker split, and found that by mining from the closest patches right away, I actually hit my 10th probe faster by an extra 5 or 10, so I stuck with it.
@lappy512: I will look into that, thanks! @dunc: you are correct, the PST was not in the original post! That's my bad haha
Just watched it and I really enjoyed it. Will definitely give this build a try out. Hope you continue with this show. It could be a good alternative to a long 50 minute show like day9, just a short little check this out type of thing.
Bumped, second episode scheduled!
Awsome show. Really liked the build.
If you could also mix in some tutorials on mechanics of the game, would be great. For example, how to efficiently attack and macro at the same time. It's kind of basic, but a platinum level player like myself could always use some new perspectives to improve.
Hope to see more from this, keep at it bro.
Edit:
I think that this sort of thing can really bring more to the sc2, and general e-sports community. SO much these days it seems that if you want to watch anything sc2 related, you're going to be sat there for an hour, I personally really appreciate something i can pop on, and Scratch that little sc2 itch that develops if i don't watch a vid or hear a different perspective on the game.
Enjoyed the 2nd ep as well man, keep it up. This would be a great build for the next funday monday, warp prism island expand into warp prism harass, brilliant.
Good second show. Interesting build! However (at least in the vod version), the video quality of the game was pretty bad, I could barely make anything out. Not sure if it's the stream or your capturing device. Just some feedback on that. Other than that was awsome, look forward to future episodes.
awesome, great work, just watched both eps
just wached both episodes, liked them both keep it up. I will definitly check your channel again
Liked both episodes.
Suggestion for future show: Show a cool way to play PvP.
I'd suggest for an episode it wouldn't be bad to actually take some pride in the 4gate.
I see a lot of misinformed gold-diamond players saying "4gate is trash once u know how to defend it its easy", So perhaps to set the record straight you could spend 10 minutes just talking about the importance of the refinement of build orders as protoss, and the method you use to straighten out little kinks.
Might help the general population a lot, and i'd get to see more well executed 4gates instead of these 40 second late abominations :D
Great work with both shows so far! You seemed a bit nervous in the first show, but you got a lot better in the second. I really appreciate the effort that you put into explaining the motivations behind the builds that you're showing us and the ways in which they can be altered in different scenarios. Keep it up, and consider getting the show added to the calendar if it isn't there already!

Keep it up mate, always nice to see these creative builds and how they're well explained for people to understand! will keep watching the show, thanks for your efforts .
Good job on both episodes! I, too, would appreciate an increase in VOD quality, since your resources and food count isn't exactly visible on the archive. But your narration is great!
Thanks so much for the responses, it really helps!
I am disappointed as well with the visual quality of the show thus far and am actively seeking remedies for that, so bear with me; I watch it afterwards to see how it went and just sit there and sigh haha!
I will see about having it added to the calendar, as of now it is happening sporadically because of my personal schedule but that too can be worked out.
I have come to really enjoy PvP, but I have a background of nothing but BM and hate for the matchup As I play more and more PvP I find that it really is a battle of micro and macro, and of making good decisions. Although it is excruciating to play, there's no denying that in PvP, we Protoss players have the privilege of playing such a deeply bitter yet unique matchup no other race can share in. It is our burden as Protoss players but we bear it with pride haha!
I think the next episode will deal with the "vicious elegance" of the 4-gate, and how it is, quite bluntly, a brute force build that aims to overwhelm the opponent and yet requires a great deal of finesse and streamlining to properly execute. Sounds very Protossy!
Watched the first episode, great that you're doing this. I would recommend somewhat better quality stream though, it's sometimes hard to discern your resource count, which you refer to often.
I think you definitely have enough to tell to fill more than 10 minutes, good luck!
Heya, I just watched both episodes (I live en Europe so I don't get to watch too much life crazyness ^^) and I really liked the format. It's short. It's exact. It's to the point. Im around 2000 diamond toss and im still rly stuck with one build for each MU and I'm looking for viable different builds to expand my repetoire, which this, without a doubt, has done. I can only say that its g r e a t with the vast focus on technical detail, since it is rly where the good play is created - and a good opening is in most cases needed for good play later on.
I am disappointed as well with the visual quality of the show thus far and am actively seeking remedies for that, so bear with me; I watch it afterwards to see how it went and just sit there and sigh haha! No sweat Go look at Day[9] daily no. 1, it's basically the same quality! Can just say that it's great you're doing this - especially gotta love the toss focus,eh! I'll be watching the vod's regularly!
Hey, would you consider uploading some replays of the build you showed in the first two episodes? Thanks.
Hey Sidereal,
Just watched the first episode and although I am not a Protoss player I thought it was pretty cool! You did a good job explaining the build pretty quickly and explaining all the different options it presents. I kinda like the 10 minute thing and I'm sure you prefer to do shorter episodes, but if sometime in the future you decide to extend your episodes maybe to 20 minutes or so I think they would still be awesome. You went through quite a bit but there was much more you could've said/shown us as well. For example, the specific deviations of the build and possible transitions throughout the game. I'm not necessarily saying they need to be longer, but if you want to extend them there is plenty more to say to fill the time .
Good luck with your future episodes and thanks for helping out all the poor newbie Protoss players of the SC2 community!
I went in with the cynical "nothing will give me satisfaction if it isn't day9 or incontrol!"-attitude and I still really liked this alot. Keep it going!
Awesome show, nice to have a 10 min. video I can watch in stead of an hour
As stated above, it think your show looks great! Though, one change I'de really like to see is a greater emphasis on the weaker sides of the build and not only its possibilities. E.g. how does a 14 gate cope with early rushes and aggression? Should the probe be sent straight after the pylon to scout or are you comfortable with waiting till the late gateway is in construction?
I'm glad that people really like the format, and yes, I have tons and tons to say haha! I can and most certainly will add replays of this build and the many variations of it, and even feature the original build by HuHuman that I modified. As with scouting, to be honest (and it may sound counterintuitive at first) I ALWAYS scout with one of my first probes, meaning I split them all to the minerals, and I select one to go scout after their first cargo return. I know a 14 gate is vulnerable in the early stages, so getting to their base and scouting helps me know where they are with their build. Additionally, there is an added effect: When they see my probe, they immediately assume proxy, and it's funny to see them send a worker around their base for what is basically a phantom of their mind! I will speak more on this in a future episode, and how it relates to that post here at TL about psychological warfare
@Karliath: Of course, here are a few replays of that build order vs all 3 races:

New episode is scheduled, along with a small little segment called "Spotlight On:" It is true that there is so much to say about the simplest things, so I am doing multiple recordings in a day. That means I'm not sure when it is going to air, so just tune in to watch the Vods! I expect to have them up by 9pm tonight, if that helps.
The quality should be improved as well, but I am still not happy with Livestream and Procaster. I am looking to move to Justin.tv, but it will be a process as I need to migrate the Vods from Livestream over to JTV as well.
Original post updated.
After watching some featured streams, I see that players are not splitting the most efficiently, so episode 4 will be about that, and will be done after I do episode 3. I had to take a break and reorganize some things in the house, taxes, etc., but I am back! Hope to catch you online!

Is this kind of a build up? I mean, starting off with basics then moving onto more broad game defining topics (like say ZvP nuances)? Not saying the show is bad, it is actually done pretty well, just not quite sure where you intend to go with it is all
good stuff, will be looking out for more of your vods, gg

I ran through the 14 gate build in YABOT and uploaded the build on sc2builds. I think the mineral/gas/time values might be screwed up but that's how YABOT saved it. I credited Sidereal for the build.
Take a look and see if there's anything I should change in it or if the description should be different.
SC2builds 14 gate build
There's a replay of me doing it in YABOT linked from the build as well. Anything past the warp gate research and pylon is not part of the build. Be sure to chrono your nexus twice otherwise the food doesn't line up like it should.
Sidereal I had an Intellivision too. Controller had a number pad and a disc on it for controls and you slid little plastic cards in front of the number pad for each game. Pretty sweet.

Dommk, I guess it is a build up, but only to further episodes. I am currently writing show topics, and there are a lot, so when I get a clear broadcast schedule I will definitely post it kind of like a scheduled episodic so each episode will be planned out before hand!
Sounds awesome. Looking forward to it!
wonderful!! checking out the vods now. kudos, sir :D
is the mineral split thing a joke?
I really like the show so far as well as the build order you used. If you think you need help with anything for the show, I'd like to help you out. Keep up the good work.
Great start to the show! I'm guessing the OP is out of date though since it says episode 3 is about the weaknesses of protoss 14 gate. I like the format of one topic per show, but I don't mind if it runs longer if you can't finish what you have to say in 10 minutes.
You probably have a lot of topics planned already but I wouldn't mind seeing how you transition out of a 4gate that doesn't kill the opponent. Also cute openings like the warp prism rush would be cool.
Tada! This show is back but on Justin.tv with xSplit now!!!! I am working on moving the VODs over from Livestream on the topics I have already done, but I have added two new episodes that I think P players will like! Check them out!
Pretty cool! I watched the first couple of episodes but as a Zerg player, I didn't really stick with it. Later I have taken an interest in learning Protoss and possibly switching depending on what I enjoy more, so I'll have to check these out!

Cool man yeah, if you wanna switch to Protoss I think these are a good way to introduce yourself to the race since I often include thought processes from my PvX experiences too, almost a way to get inside a P player's head!
I really liked the ones you did a while ago and have been wondering if you abandoned your show. Glad to hear you're still with it and I'm looking forward to future episodes.
