Personally I don't want to play PvP. I don't want to play any mirror matchup. It doesn't suit my type of play and it's just boring. My solution was always to play ZvP. My current solution for sc2 is to borrow a friend's account and use Z on that (so I can practice ZvP). But then I have to play a bunch of zergs and terrans!
Oh, perhaps it would be reasonable to ask for a preference option on ruling out specific match-up, similar to the current ruling out of specific maps while laddering? I think this is really reasonable, and people did it in Brood War. I'll write a section detailing about that momentarily.

Don't agree with FFA part but good points otherwise. Unfortunately, I dont' see this doing anything, as other petitions before have had little to no response from the blues.

sad enough they still make their blues to reply on chemistry threads instead of some srns biz.
so......?
i like suggestions but its like going nowhere.

This is very true. While they may not reply to every post on the forums, rest assured that every post is in fact read.
I'd like to see my personal agenda added to the post: Appear offline mode allowing players to enjoy the game without being disturbed by their entire friends list. In other words, let us log in to play a game or two without having 30 friends ask «HEY UP FOR A GAME?». By the time I've answered them all saying «no, only on for a couple games» the time I had available to play is gone.
More on par with your post however:
Your seperate ladders, while an interesting idea will cause a significant problem for the lower leagues. Players in these leagues often fear ladder, and as a result will take advantage of a «practice ladder». In the long run, you could end up in a situation while Bronze league essentially migrateas to the practice ladder, and the new player who actually IS competitive can't ladder his way out of bronze either.
To TL posters headed to blizzard forums: Please avoid simply copy pasting the post without adding anything constructive. You'll just make TL come off as a bunch of hooligans to people who don't know about it yet, and the posts will most likely be viewed as spam by Blizzard.

The ladder is supposed to be a very specific kind of environment. You shouldn't get to say that you don't want to play a certain matchup. If you want that, if you want to play certain matchups or not play others, then you should play a custom game.

lot of info here, but gonna make this as short and sweet as possible. appologize if i miss a segment as i only read it once and probably wont look back up except for the bold words. replays -they plan to have party replays available very soon. perhaps before the end of january. -fast forwarding to any point in the replay = genius! -play replay from any point. meh it sounds nice, but i think i'd just like the old save/load that sc1 had so you and your friend can do an opening you'd like and load it from there multiple times to test mult. builds. clan tags -very much agree, although i don't think bliz plans on handing out any more free ones =P matchmaking/ladder -very much agree on off race laddering, although i don't really see a solution to this because one person should not get 3 different ladders it would be too much clutter -i think bliz wanted everyone to feel special in creating different divisions, and didn't anticipate someone making sc2ranks. lazy on their part, but now the work is done. -i'd like to see custom games influenced by your mmr if anything others -ffa is fine unranked. would be too difficult for me to win so many games otherwise =P -map pool will be improved, be patient -lan function at tournaments is in future plans, be patient -cross realm play. nice thought, but unnecessary. seriously imagine how many spots would be wasted in the ladder. so much clutter. if you want to play on another server buy another copy =P

How would the "start replay from any point' thing work? Substituting TLO for a very hard computer opponent isn't exactly going to make me excited.

More discussion would be needed before I add it in.

I agree with all of this. Specifically the clan tags portion I think could even be expanded. Just add clan profiles. The leaders start and manage them in the same way WoW guilds function, and instead of their name showing up as <Clan Name Here>, the clan would have a personalized tag like in brood war, except when you get added to the clan, the tag gets automatically put on.
This opens up new opportunities as well. With clan pages, players would be able to monitor the competition and watch the success of other clans in terms of ladder and custom matches won/lost. Could be a very useful tool and I think Blizzard should really look into this more.

I think the race voting might be useful in custom matches, but it could skew ladder results, and I think that's why bliz might not consider this as strongly. If you're REALLY good ZvT, but are weak vs. protoss and terran, then you can just ZvT all day every day and not worry about your weak points. Also you have to put in less effort than other ladder players practicing all their matchups

One thing you could do is separate your points into two separate categories 1. Things the vast majority of the community agrees on and should be implemented ASAP 2. Wishlist, or things that are uncertain whether they would be good or not for the community
Also for clan tags, I think a system should be put in place. Games like CoD MWF had unlimited clan tags, and thus clan tags had no meaning. Anyone could put anything, and they ended up being a silly amusement for the VAST majority of players.
Imo, if blizzard is willing to put in the effort, have an application process for clans to become legitimate. Necessitate a minimum number of players and whatever other constraints the community feels are reasonable. And theeeeen, CLAN LADDER! WOOOO

Yeah, I was also thinking about adding in specifics on supporting Clans not only clan tags. The only problem with that is that I'm only familiar with the Clan system used on Brood War (which required WC3 keys). Is that the same system everyone is referring to? Perhaps we should discuss the specifics of what "Clan Support" is if we are going to ask for it.
I would like to have chat channels with Op privelidges similar to how the old BattleNet worked. Then Blizzard could allow a group of a specific amount of users (perhaps ten like WC3?) to create a new clan channel. Then, users should be able to keep a list of players currently in different ranks within the clan stats. Perhaps support for having admins, operators, and clan roster members would be good. Also it would be great if there was some sort of client supported statistics page for clans similar to how teams of 3v3 and 4v4 players have their own statistics pages.

I agree with you totally. You've got some good points.
|
this has been stated, restated, and been restated again and again. a petition is not going to do anything. blizzard is clearly aware of the issues and has the intentions of resolving these issues. a petition isn't going to expedite these fixes or make them aware of anything. just be patient and play the game.

you're asking for just about everything here.
If you want real progress, you need to do it in baby steps.
Ask for LAN or one other thing. Focus on that. Once that's done with, or they've made some kind of response to it, you can focus on something else.
|
Suggestion for your main Blizzard post:
You recommended having a FIND RANKED MATCH and FIND UNRANKED MATCH buttons. However, I know that Blizzard felt it was important to make joining ranked games unintimidating for players, which is why they have a FIND MATCH button to begin with, instead of something like JOIN RANKED MATCH. So I think it would be best to keep the system as is, and just add another tab to the side for warmup games, or adding a drop down arrow by FIND MATCH to select unranked, or something like that.

I agree at least to the extent that the post should be prioritized. Make LAN the number one bullet point, because the loss of LAN is something that has alienated many players. Then try to work out the most important changes from there. I would personally love to have separate rankings for different races, and I would love to be able to choose which race I ladder against (so I could, say, work on my ZvZ whenever I felt like it - I'm a random player btw), but that might not be so important for other people.

And please, all of you stop quoting my post without giving much to the discussion. As I said in the OP the Blizzard forums are discussion forums and we need to abide by their rules if we want to avoid causing trouble. If you do quote my post, at leasts quote it and input the word "snip", so that we don't all have to scroll forever. Or, if you are referring to a specific part, only quote that specific part. You could also link to my post rather than quoting the entire thing. It's also extremely annoying how the Blizzard forums add in white-space lines when you quote something, and it's making quotes of my post like twice as long as it should be.
