Ech of them had advantages and disadvantages I can think of, but I won der, what do you use?
Poll: What settings for 'Health Bars' do you use?Always On (318) 91% Selected (Press Alt or select unit to see) (20) 6% Normal (Press Alt to see) (11) 3% 349 total votes Your vote: What settings for 'Health Bars' do you use? (Vote): Always On (Vote): Selected (Press Alt or select unit to see) (Vote): Normal (Press Alt to see)
Kind regards, Toastie

always on. i used that setting since it was made available in war3 with a patch.
Always on. Although at IEM New York I noticed Fenix plays with them Always off, even when selected. Weird, right?
Always on, I have been using it that way since the beta.
so usefull when u have to micro ... it's always on
Always on.
I hate it when people say that its too cluttered during zergling fights or something, I'll be straight up honest when it comes down to games, you don't look at the unit skin and its hp bar, you just care about the hp bar.
It's not too cluttered at all, its the way it needs to be.

I can kinda understand it. I used to play DotA back in the day, then HoN and I got so used to holding alt with my left thumb that it carried over to Starcraft. Then I found out you could have them always on, but for at least a month I had them off still. Then when I finally switch to always on, I was still holding alt for like 3 weeks. It's such a hard habit to break.

I think day9 said HuK plays with them off and uses alt? Or maybe it was some other pro I can't remember lol but yeah for me on on on
same as esp here....i got so used to playing dota and wc3 while holding alt...the health bars even annoy me sometimes when its on, so yeah i keep on normal
Always on.
It really helps in small fights (And even big ones) where you can snipe low health units first. And I don't find it any harder to see what's going on, i'm just so used to seeing the health bars there.. It looks strange without them!
I used to think that having them on was in the way of sniping observers, and they are to some degree, but the ability to easily see what units are low and which arent, especially in zvz's, far outweigh that.
I'd prefer it if alt toggled health bars instead of temporarily (momentary switch) activated them.
Always on, although I once suggested another option to only show healthbars of damaged units (both friendly and enemy)...
Is there any advantage keeping it off ? I mean, yes, it can block the units a little, but the games remains very clear. Micro advantage is invaluable.

on low health bars always on doesn't get in the way at all. Its almost necessary when playing PvP and the other person goes blink stalkers. You can focus em down even if they run away.

I use the normal mode even if it's a disadvantage regarding micro (ties one finger to alt). I dislike the clutter from health bars if they are always on.
I truly hope Blizzard implements toggle health bars soon. It even should not require much effort from them as they have already implemented it for replays and spectator mode (quick key H).

It's something like the 7th thread about the only and same question.
Always on. Less I need to think about and I can see the enemy info when I need to instead of by selection (or alt)
Always on, I cant imagine playing starcraft 2 without knowing what unit is going to die first, And it brings up the rule "The one with the long bar dies first. Usually"
Always on but I mainly use it to see when buildings and upgrades will finish more than anything.
Always on.
But god, i wish they made something about their size.. i'm like always strugling to see what's what under the big bars It's SO annoying during big battles.
Health Bars on zerglings are like twice their size and protoss had the shield one.
Selected. Why clutter your screen with pointless information when you can press a button once that kind of micro is needed.
always on makes it easier to micro, and i never want to hit alt constantly.
Having health bars always on has never gotten in the way of me seeing / selecting units, and helps quite a bit with micro (focus firing, saving units from death, etc.). I see no reason to turn them off besides commentating games.
I used to use Selected, but I realized it really made micro a ton easier to have them always on. I found I always saw more opportunities to save units. Totally worth the extra clutter.
I didn't realise such a huge portion had them always on... I constantly tap it during a game, most likely going to give it a go with always on now >.>
Lost alot of wc3 games from tapping ALTQQ tho lol
Definitely always on and when people stream or cast without them on it always annoys me.
No reason not to have them always on. Easier micro+ seeing progress on units/upgrades in production.
I use selected but so many people seem to be using always on so I'm going to give it a try.
always on makes target fireing so much easier
I can understand if people having them off if they play on a 4:3, but if you play on 16:10 or 16 I don't se any reason to have it off because the bars won't be in your way with such an high resolution.
Always on, makes microing back damaged units/focus fire enemy units waaaay easier. And as a Terran it helps me to either engange a Colossus or not if i can see how damaged it is.

Always on since I like how it makes it just that much easier to focus fire enemy units and micro back any hurt ones on my side (or at least attempt to micro lol)
The only person I know who manually checks health bars is HuK.
I use default. I tried having always on because I played dota/war3 but I don't like the look of the little squares. I also die inside when I see someone cast a game with health bars always on.
Oh wow really so few others who play with them off?
I find it really messes with being able to see bigger battles with how much clutter it adds. And probably 95% of the game they have no value as you are not in a battle. The other 5%, you can hold alt when needed. I just don't think its worth it, especially given how ugly it makes things.
Even if I didn't think they cluttered large battles making it harder to control, I still wouldn't use them because of how ugly they are. Perhaps blizzard could make a more appealing health bar.
