Korea's GPD is significantly lower than e.g America and hence while $90k seems decent in America, 90k in Korea is A CRAP LOAD

Korea is very different from countries like Thailand or Indonesia, you can't go there with your € and become rich as soon as you cross the border because their money is worth nothing. Well, I think at least, perhaps I'm wrong.

(In this case, living, working paying taxes in Korea or in the states). I'm assuming you mean GDP when you say "GPD"... which is not some kind of magic figure used to judge standard of living or in this case, I guess purchasing power. 90k is a decent amount of money by Korean standards. It is not a "CRAP LOAD". You make it seem like it would be the equivalent to winning the lottery.

His point is still valid. 90k USD in Korea is significantly more spending power than 90k USD in the US. He's not claiming that it's a massive fortune. I would describe 3-4 years of average salary as a "CRAP LOAD" because that is a lot of money for my situation.

Exactly the same when you compare with US$, 90k is between 4 and 5 years of income for an average worker. I'm really not sure that 90k is worth more for a skorean than it is for an american . * http://www.worldsalaries.org/korea.shtml

"A CRAP LOAD" makes it seems like he is, indeed, claiming it to be some kind of small fortune. I agree that 90K, on average, will last you longer in Korea than it does in the States, but the difference is probably not very big. In anycase, I could use an extra 90K.. short on cash ![]()

I can understand the other tournaments not having a spread prize pool...they barely have any prize to give in comparison to SC1 esports salaries...but yeah...sorta worries me that that like only 30 people are making a living from SC2 like this, and not even being paid what they deserve at that. Except perhaps the lucky people that are sponsored by huge companies.

You got to make top 8 just to pay for a plane ticket to korea basically. The top 4 should not be getting 75% of the prize pool >>

On the other hand, cost of living is higher here.
