I looked through the spreadsheet but i couldnt find a total Pricemoney. It would be nice to add that too.
Total Prize Money is in the second row, Winnings ($). Everything else in the spreadsheet is in Korean Won with monetary conversion of $1 = 1100 Won, 1 Euro = $1.3, and $1 = 7 SEK.

What the hell kind of world do people who think this, or think that it's an average annual salary, live in? (Edit: To be clear: Just under six figures is far more than decent.) Where I live, MoCo, MD. Median income = 91k. Ofc, it's the 8th richest county in the nation so.... On the other hand, cost of living is higher here.
MoCo represent!! Lived in all parts, upper (near Damascus), middle (in Gaithersburg), and now by 4 Corners in Silver Spring. I know all roads in MoCo, so if anyone there needs to get from one place to the next, hit me up, I'll give you directions.

smaller tourneys also add up. Sjow made over 8k over his career for example

How about bill gate's house? he laughs at your puny 80k fruitseller, with his median salary

Just wondering if the original poster can another column to sort total prize winnings by team?
Seems to be a logical step. And it will provide a rough estimate of the strength of the foreigner clans as compared to the korean ones.
Thanks!

This is pretty interesting. I'd love an in depth article on how pro gamers are paid. Does each team charge their members rent/food or is it free? How much money do pro gamers get from a salary for simply showing their teams sponsors on their shirts when their on TV? And other stuff like that would really interest me. Seems like with prize money + sponsorships you can employ quite a few people off of SC2.

Actually, you're missing a bit of relevant money in some cases. There was a medium tourney earlier this year, with a 2k-ish prize pool and 200-ish player.
if you take it into account, kiwikaki is over TLO.
Lan ETS WCG Edition - Starcraft 2 Tournament Here was the prizepool : 1st : 600 $ - IefNaij 2nd : 400 $ - KiWiKaKi 3rd : 200 $ - SLush 4th : 150 $ - Taurent 5-6 : 100 $ - 7-8 : 75 $ 9-12 : 50 $
Here's the full bracket if you wanna bother with under top 4 http://142.137.247.108/brackETS/SC2_Group/SC2ETS.htm

it varies alot from team to team, some get salaries, some just get sponsor money for travel/tournament cost in general.

Not much compare to a pro hockey player...
And i have way more fun watching a game of Starcraft than hockey... and i'm canadian.

Sports are inflated money sinks where people are overcharged to watch it.

You should start a program online that makes maps where you could just like type in where your are then where you want to go. You could call it like "mapquest" or something.

I can understand the other tournaments not having a spread prize pool...they barely have any prize to give in comparison to SC1 esports salaries...but yeah...sorta worries me that that like only 30 people are making a living from SC2 like this, and not even being paid what they deserve at that.
Except perhaps the lucky people that are sponsored by huge companies.
We're not even at six months! What are you talking about? "Money for everyone we don't care how shitty you are. Burn it!"
First come the clans and stable tournaments. Then come the pro teams and sponsors. Then the proleague.
It takes the same route as Broodwar only immensely faster and more global. For every player that gets taken in to a team where he doesn't have to pay monthly for rent and food, I would say that is a success in such a short time. You know what some progamers in Broodwar did at that early stage? They shared a bowl of rice with teammembers....

I have imported the winnings from most major tournaments that I could find into a database. You can view the current standings at:
(Contains my prediction for GSL 3 finals, so maybe a spoiler warning there) http://ehcg.djgamblore.com/
The list of events I found can be seen at http://ehcg.djgamblore.com/events.php It generally was compiled through the TL tournament tracker and various events that I was aware of and includes most of the major weekly events.
If you can find any tournaments that you know are missing, feel free to post it up here. I'm working on a way to make it easier for tournament admins or any interested individuals to add their results to the database.
