How can Rigid become a Featured Streamer?

Hey, I was just curious about the process to become a Featured Streamer, and if it is possible to nominate Rigid to that status. If its based off skill, his Zerg play is extremely high level. He has wins against Huk, Idra and other higher level players as well. I am sure he will post the replays at some point.

He is well mannered and regularly talks with his stream viewers and answers questions as well. But yeah, how is this done and can we get Rigid into that?

Getting featured on livestream is EXTREMELY difficult, ive met all the requirements and submitted liek 10 times and been denied each one -_-

I think only featured streams can go on featured streams @ tl

Whats his rank? I mean I don't think its necessarily based off that. I am actually not even sure the criteria they use. For example, Steven Bonnell has been streaming since Beta and is has over 1000 points and isn't featured. When I watch he also teaches people what hes doing, so I dunno exactly what they are looking for.

Out of everyone, Debo is the most deserving of receiving a featured stream. The guy has been streaming since beta. Has an upwards of 600+ viewers on average without being featured. He is pretty creative and skillful in his builds. Talks to the viewers all the time and has a great WOMBO COMBO youtube video that someone made for him.

Do you mean verified? I heard it took only a few days once you actually get a few pre recordings on there.

the problem would be that if it wasn't so difficult, there would be 50-100 featured streams

everybody wants his/certain peoples stream to be featured, kinda like when people are going nuts if someone special isn't invited for a tournament

its just difficult

I definately agree with the Debo argument. He is extremely funny, but I think his cursing is what holds him back from being featured. And Rigid at the moment has 1158. I think he is 13th in his division, and he is Diamond, of course. Though, his division has Huk, SLush, CatZ, Hashe, Zelniq and who knows who else, so 13 is certainly respectible.

Anyone in the top 300 or so with 500 games played has got to have some wins against elite players. I'm not sure how picky tl.net can be about featured streamers at this point but I'd imagine they could be really picky. Perhaps something more than ladder performance would help his case. Do well in some tournaments.

The best way to become a featured stream is to let TL staff know. They'll consider the request after reviewing the stream. Make sure not to spam TL staff about it, or else you'll never get featured. See Chill's thread about streams: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=145584

Maybe since TL is updating it's interface and settings maybe they could have a way to set your 'preferred' streamers for yourself. So it will have "Featured" streamers, "Preferred" streamers (that just you see) and then the collapsible link for the rest.

This is actually an excellent idea. Maybe whoever locks this thread in the very near future will consider this.

Edit: Now that I think about it, it would add a bit of clutter. So maybe an optional interface.

That is perfect. I really hope that the TL staff sees this idea.

I wish steven bonnell were featured, but I can understand why he isn't. He is bad mannered and throws a lot of games, but he only does it for the entertainment value.

Honestly I think if you are consistent for 4+ months and you can bring in 1000 viewers consistently then you deserve to be sponsored. Orb met that when he streamed, and trump meets that criteria now. Some brood war people were getting undeservedly featured toward the beginning, but that has died down and I think what we have now works.

But if there are ever more than 3 or 4 featured streams online at the same time, there are probably too many featured streams.

we could use more featured streams, it seems a lot of the people who were streaming during beta, are no longer... Probably because they're training for tournaments.

The idea I believe involved the user manually adding in his preferred streams. It wasn't like a 2 tiered featuring system where featured means you are awesome and preferred means you aren't as good but still worth watching. That would be stupid and add clutter.

Personally i find his keyboard to be extremely annoying, his cursor highlight to be obnoxious, and I really dont feel he has anything more to add than many of the other streamers. There are many qualities that make a featured streamer, I just dont feel he meets enough of them.

Question: Does TL decide who get's featured? If so, why not make some kind of user-voting or sth...?

Not easy to do, nor should it be. Nominations shouldn't be enough to do it if you ask me, it should be very difficult to get a featured stream, either be an extremely high caliber, consistent tournament winning player, be extremely popular, as in getting 1k+ viewers without being on featured on a regular basis, streaming often enough and being a known person in the TL/SC community. I don't think it should be a small one time task such as beating idra or huk that deserves being featured, personally I've never heard of Rigid and if he isn't winning or even placing well consistently in 256+ man tournaments then how can he be considered a top player, if he's never won a tournament and isn't on a big team, how can he be considered a top player.

I say featured should be a privilege and it shouldn't be tossed around to just anyone, you can always add more featured streams but the process to take them away is few and far between, so at what point can they say, we have enough featured streamers.

featured streams should be reserved for high quality, high level streamers. if you're being denied make your stream better instead of qq'ing on the forums.

Because there are some streamers who have ridiculous amounts of viewers, but are not that good or disrespectful or both.
If you want to keep a certain level of quality it's nearly always a bad idea to let the people choose. Most will simply make their choice based on personal preference instead of what would be better for the community.
Example:
We already have many good terran streamers, who are able to comment on their high level play in a entertaining and educating fashion in a good quality.
We don't have a protoss or zerg streamer offering the same level of quality currently.
Rigid would be a great choice as a new featured streamer in my opinion, because his stream is high quality, he is very high ranked (1200 points) and able to comment in clear and understandable english.
Destiny is very entertaining to watch sometimes, but not someone who should be featured only because he is hilarious.
I sometimes watch decemvrie, because he is an pretty good zerg player, but i don't understand why he should be featured.

Let the tl.net people choose who they see fit to become a featured streamer and everything will be ok.

Edit:
Maybe i used the wrong words in my last sentence, but with "tl.net people" i meant the admins or whoever decided this until now, not the users.

I'm in the camp of "it's time to go over the list of featured streamers." There a number of featured streamers who are pretty damn bad when you watch them play and probably are featured because of their time in BW.

The problem is I don't think TL staff want to remove these people from being featured, even if they aren't deserving anymore, because of a veteran legacy thing.

Similarly, there are some very good players who aren't featured that ought to be (at least in comparison to some of what is out there currently.)

I have two wishes from TL community:

1. See Debo playing 2vs2 with Trump in stream.

2. Having Debo as co-caster with Day[9].

Why? There are tons of different tournaments and leagues running. If there are are say, 4 tournaments going one night, and a couple casting teams are doing some coverage (say ICCup TV, GosuGamers, and GLHF.tv), and iNkA, Trump, LzGaMeR, PainUser, KawiiRice, Machine, Sen, MoMaN, and NoNy are playing in those tournaments, and then there's Root Gaming, mousesports, and vT covering their team's participants, and it runs past 10pm EDT on a Tuesday so Day9 will be on with his daily...there will be 16 featured streams on. And each of them has been approved by TeamLiquid as being really damn good.

It's like going to an amusement park and bitching because you won't get to ride every single ride, watch every single show, browse every single store, and eat from every single concession stand.

Really? This is the first one I have seen .

But wouldn't mind rigid being featured good zerg like watching his play and he's like the only zerg who streams now of days other then the occasional Sen/Machine.
