I don't like it, so i voiced my opinion, others have also held this opinion, if the SOTG hosts don't want to change it they don't have to, doesn't hurt to give feedback Anna is allowed special treatment because she is Geoff's girlfriend. Pretty simple. Its hilarious when she calls in and she asks great questions at least. JP's brother should walk over and ask questions imo, and maybe let Tyler's wife ask some too, that would be hilarious too
Sure why not

I disagree with branding the community as cynics as put in the podcast.
I think that reactions are of course more extreme than normal but as much as the community lambasts and showers "bad" events with hate, we also appreciates well run events and tournaments.
In fact, the starcraft community is very eager to lavish praises on events that do get it right. See Dreamhack Invitational , SC Reddit Invitational, and of course IPL. It is actually very heartwarming how encouraging most people are in those threads. Sure there are idiots who complains about every little thing but they are the minority.
Therefore, I don't think the community unfairly brand every events as not good enough. In fact, when the community as a whole is unhappy about something, there is probably a good reason

So true. We get way too excited when things goes well, and way too angry when things go sideways.

I think JP's brother should ask questions, but we never see his face. Only his feet.

Geoff & Anna are so in the business. Not that it matter, that's good for esport, but sometime publicity needs to be tamed a bit, especially when it prevent Tyler or Day from displaying their knowledge.
Also I asked myself, how come all the european players (most likely from WC3 like thorzain, hasuobs and such) are the "hard-worker" while the american player (like incontrol or day9) are more community heroes who have less results as players but more involved in esport as a product. Do you think it's cultural ?

well casting vs playing is a completely different thing
you should compare players with players, Day9 is primarily a caster not a player
|
It's a primarily English community, naturally Americans are going to make up a huge portion of community roles. As players, though, Americans are no less likely to be "hard working" whatever that means. Look at IdrA, or the American born Canadian HuK.

What? Are you kidding me? I love it when Anna calls. It's cute and hilarious.

It was cute and hilarious the first few times, before it started being so forced and all the jokes about it became stale. Not that I mind it too much, but it's slowly becoming a pet peeve now.

yep, paused the vod of the podcast when it happened and came straight to this thread to make sure i wasn't the only one. if its going to be planned ahead and so obviously staged, why even let it interrupt the show? just have geoff call her at minute X when there isn't a good discussion happening. that way the forever alones can still hear a girl's voice and the rest of us can still enjoy a solid podcast.

Yeah, but both IdrA & HuK are hype machine, you hear about them weither they make result or not, while you don't hear anything about hasuobs, thorzain or dimaga except when they play / make result (white-ra obviously is different).

I really enjoyed it, made me laugh quite a bit even though I only understand a bit about starcraft

Inc: Can I just confirm...that you are criticising MC right now. Tyler: Yes. I am criticising MC- Inc: D:> *shuddering gasp*
El oh el.

The hype was mostly because they compete (or competed until recently) on the Korean scene, there's always going to be hype around foreigners in Korea. It's somewhat justified because success on the Korean scene (and just being Code S can be considered as a success) still outweighs most accomplishments a player can get in Europe/NA.
European players like Jinro, Ret and TLO are still going to be regarded highly and hyped up because of that as well, even if their recent results have been largely unimpressive.

Its weird reading some of the stuff people complain about in a relaxed podcast they chose to listen to.

I'm sure they'll talk about the IPL and its production value, but I'm curious as to how they'll compare the IPL with the NASL, GSL, and other pre-existing tournaments.

I tried to write down tylers key setup, just in case anyone else wanted it, and also so that someone else could glance over it and see if its correct.
1: nexus 2: gates untill warpgates, then stargates q: warpgates z: robotics xcvb observer, immortal, warprism tab: where to build reinforcements (camera lock) werty: warpgate units 345: main army d+f: units that harras / warpprisms observers phoenix
I thought that this was one of the best bits of the podcast, an idea that really can benefit everyone!
If someone could reply and tell me where to find more information on custom setups, not specifically tylers, just other custom setups that people use that would be great, as I have searched the TL forums, but clearly wasn't searching the right words..

Defending the NASL at this point is absurd. The consistently heavy lag, the disconnects, the WOs, the huge delay. Its not a matter of criticizing anything. The NASL is borderline unwatchable in the literal sense.

I agree.
If Hasuobs or Thorzain went to Korea and had good results, they'd receive the same hype that Whitedog hates (?) so much. I don't know why he threw Dimaga's name in there because just like Jinro, both of them did well in Korea and the hype around them instantly exploded.
