I think it's worth discussing something Huk brought up in this TL interview, which is that the system overly favors players who get any kind of seeding early on in the year. This is similar to the big problem with NASL, which is that it's designed to entrench the established players and make it very very hard/unlikely for new superstars to break through. Ol' boys club isn't the right word, but it could become something like that where the same people are playing each other over and over and have to really screw up to get dropped out.

Yeah this is just wrong and you don't even know what you're talking about. It's not like you lose once in a tournament and you're out. You're playing a big group of people over the course of two months. If you're not up to snuff, you'll be sent packing.
