Yeah, let's totally have everyone going around calling each other names when they lose and cursing at them when they do something we think is cheap. That'll turn us right into all the other stupid communities that accept and promote that kind of behavior. It IS childish. You're in the minority here. No one thinks people like IdrA and Destiny are people to look to for moral value. They think the BM is funny and find joy in watching others rage at parts of a game. It's also childish in that laughing at others because they get mad amounts to little more than petty bullying. Unfortunately, everyone on the internet has to act like they're witty and insult other people, so the trend continues even though it's reprehensible behavior. You're coming from some "Cultural Relativism" mindset about morals, when the fact is, the West doesn't really want to put up with stupid BM that's out of place either. A match, even between rivals, shouldn't devolve into a name-calling affair. The most interesting part of the IdrA vs. Huk was the way IdrA beat Huk in the extended series, not what Huk said to him in game 3. Stop promoting BM.
Well idra called him "Retarded" in an interview, not in game. Are you going to whine about what people do in their own time now? Do they have to be manner when talking on skype now? How about LADDER games? Should IdrA be nice to everyone on ladder because it might make some armchairs online mad?
The rest of your dribble is again, completely opinionated and based on evidence of popularity, wrong.
And no, the most interesting thing about the idra vs huk series was that idra backed up his claim.

lol you're totally putting your own hate for IdrA into this post, you have to get on the fence before you make any statement or else it'll fall upon deaf ears.
btw HuK shouldn't have wrote anything besides glhf.
if he said fuck off after just "glhf", yeah that's BM and totally out of line.
HuK was trying to get under his nerves while trying to get away with it and he got bit for it, it's fair.
Oh according to the MLG rules he should have been DQ'ed also, so please if you're talking about enforcing rules and disciplining people who act out, a lot of people in the past MLG should have been DQ'ed for merely pausing without a ref's consent. (it's out of date? change it)
Again, if glorious people like you who want esports to succeed gave any thought into this (especially knowing IdrA's track record) why didn't you enable mature-filter? better yet, why allow chatting in the first place?
Because the rules are lax at the moment for the "sport", they let people get away with everything, and you complain about incidents like this when it was just last in a chain of events.
I really hope esports doesn't go the same way as in korea, i don't want see INcontrol with his head in his hands in the booth for 5+ minutes because his soul was crushed upon losing a match, and his whole team needing to psychologically comfort him.
its. a. computer. game.

Ever watched Boxing? Probably not, because with all that unprofessional trash talk it's quite clear such a sport could never become popular.
I get the feeling most of the folks calling for "professionalism" (what an arbitrary and worthless term) and manners don't actually watch sports.

it's funny, because i seriously doubt either huk or idra are nearly as concerned about this than their fanboys are.
either way, don't think either of them crossed any serious line, though i think idra has what it takes to come up with a wittier counter-troll comment. of course, dropping the f-bomb in today's sheltered society is apparently a sign of the apocalypse.

Yeah, it's not actually a huge deal. When I was 20/21, I thought I knew everything and was the shit. I mistook acting like a smartass as being 'objective' and 'honest'. Looking back on myself now, I was pretty much an arrogant, obnoxious prick.
Truth is, both Huk and IdrA are just young guys acting their age.

If the rule is whoever talks first, loses. anything after is irregardless because you can't lose a match you just won.
Easiest example I can think of. Opponent lands a clean right hook while the ref is telling us to touch gloves. Even if I hit him back, he is disqualified.
*btw* i don't think anyone should be dq'ed, it's a stupid rule and it needs to be changed. my opinion still stands that if they want BM out, sign papers and clarify penalties instead of "oooh i can't believe he said that doesn't he know in korea that's not cool?"

I think you suck yamato !!!! i am bm and part of the community...i probably play way more starcraft and i watch everything and have loved this game since i first played it and i still can have these feellings...Huk messaged Idra in the start of the game after idra just lost. I guess you never been in that situation but it is very disrespectful and fuck off is about the exact thing that comes to mind. You are one of those morons who get offended by everything for no reason. You are actually allowed to get offended by the way. Childish behavior is a matter of opinion and in some people's opinion being a scared nerd afraid to say what you really think could be called childish.

There are plenty more instances of people who talk bad about BM than just those. You're just being intentionally inflammatory towards me because you're an IdrA fan and don't like that I called his behavior childish. I'm sorry, but it is. So was Huk's. If you think he's that bad, let your play do the talking. That's what I like to see, and that's why I thought IdrA's beating him in the extended series was more interesting than this stupid BM. Did you actually read anything I posted?
|
Why are we not allowed to have drama in eSports? Do you people really want to see the players just stoically sit there before, during, and after games? I personally think it would have been awesome if Idra grabbed the mic and told Huk he was going down right before their second series rematch games.
Also, we are GAMERS. You don't have to play more than a handful of online games (any game, could be Hello Kitty online or Barney Online) to hear some of the dirtiest words in rapid succession you'll ever hear in your whole life. One F-bomb is no big deal. Pull the stick out of your ass if you're seriously upset about that.
EDIT: In Idra's defense as well he had no idea they would be putting the first Idra v HuK series on the main stage, so it's not like he said "fuck off" knowing that thousands of people would see it uncensored. That was more of an MLG fuck up for not having the language filter on, so don't go blaming Idra for that.
|
Can we just conclude that both IdrA and HuK are childish and that the Starcraft community is way too sensitive to "BM"?

I kind of agree with this... if people actually want sc2 to grow big as an esport you will have to accept that some people in sports ARE bad mannered, in most communities BM people get embraced, not rejected... SC2 becoming bigger will attract more and more competitive people, I don't know if the sc2 community checks out the Halo community or the Xbox community in general but it's pretty damn bad, BM all over in fact... Now, I can promise you that alot of people will probably come over from there to try out SC2, some might even become pro and guess what, the BM will most likely follow. Every sport has BM included, if two people start fighting in a hockeymatch, do you go on some hockey forum and say "OMG THAT GUY JUST GAVE THAT GUY A RIGHT HOOK, SO BM".... No, you don't... I'm not saying that BM is something that everybody should do, but it wont go away because you whine about it, it will become even bigger.
The reason BM is so "popular" in other games is because other games are played by 12-15 year old kids who thinks saying "faggot!!" is the coolest thing ever. SC2 is above that, and it's not just a korean thing. Starcraft players being well mannered has alot to do with them being alot more mature.
Dont get me wrong, i love drama. I love IdrA calling other people bad or whatever, but if everyone just went around calling each other faggots and hackers every time they lost (halo, CoD), then i'd be pretty sad about it.
Also, saying that IdrA and Destiny are popular because of BM just isnt true. TLO/Jinro/Day9/Ret etc. they are all popular because they have such great personalities and they are great players, and they are even more popular than IdrA in my opinion.
I hate comparisons to sports, Starcraft 2 is nothing like any of those sports, and certainly not like hockey...
