People who disagree: Every fuckin' high level protoss player in the world. I'd like to see Day9 play some games where he follows his advice.

Most top level Protoss do use it, true, but using it and thinking "it's great" are two different things. You use it because you must. I don't think anybody likes having to keep their whole army babysitting the precious Colossi and essentially having zero mobility which is horrible for a game of Starcraft no matter how much damage they do. You can't do anything until you're ready to push and you can be exploited in so many ways. It's an awful unit, it just doesn't have a solid, stable alternative right now.

Besides, HTs take at least as much babysitting. And it can be proven easily that low tech protoss can't compete with low tech terran or zerg in mid-late. You can't actually infer what somebody thinks from watching what they do, as surprising as that may sound. I honestly can't imagine why a high level player with good mechanics, especially an ex-BW Protoss player who got used to playing Reavers for example, would genuinely like how a Colossus plays like and all the tactical limitations of Colossus-oriented strategies. But let's put all that aside as my personal perspective at things. It's not a matter of teching up or not teching up. Stalkers with Blink and/or Zealots with Charge aren't "low tech" units any more due to the nature of the abilities, especially when combined with having better upgrades than your opponent. They scale up with all the upgrades better than any other unit in the game and their cost remains the same, which is actually a pretty good deal to take. But in the end it's not about how "good" each unit is, it's how it all slots together in a game plan and key timings. Oh, and as for the HT note, are we talking about the same HT that you only get late game, that are half the cost and third the supply of Colossi, that you can warp in anywhere (for instant storms with Khaydarin), that are the only real Warp Prism friendly unit in the Protoss roster, and that can morph into Archons that are pretty good front liners? Yeah they don't seem versatile or mobile at all.

The horse thing has been a recurring joke dating back to the pre-show last week. It is probably the third epically hilarious time iNcontrol has ranted on the subject and Nony was just being more awesome than normal.

Yeah they don't seem versatile or mobile at all. To be fair, all AndAgain pointed out was that HT require at least as much babysitting as Colossi. Despite their amazing power and versatility, they still need to be carefully managed in order to keep their relevance against a Terran that is deftly fielding Ghosts.

You can know for sure that they want to win and act as they see appropriate. On December 17 2010 03:16 Talin wrote: It's not a matter of teching up or not teching up. You never see protoss enter midgame with charge, but without also moving towards colossi or HT. At least, it's very rare. Zealots get worse once the opponent gets that critical mass of ranged units. Sometimes you see blink play, but that's more gimmicky/all-in.

Pretty much the day you find me funny is the day I stop being funny so at this point all systems are a go and things are doing really really well. do you want feedback or do you want fans to stroke your e-penis? imo, best line of the podcast went something like this: inc "We should tagteam Anna." tyler "Naw man, she's all yours."
