Reading the responses in the thread apparently people find this incredibly funny though so I guess yeah, I am just not getting the humor. I believe you have the case of "Serious serious serious serious serious" or have never actually just chilled with mates having a few drinks and some fun. I also find it hard to believe it's a cultural thing because I have been to Germany(If you were born and raised there) and met tons of people who were awesome to hang out with and chill(While drinking). Obviously cannot assume this is the same for everyone but saying it's a cultural thing when it just seems like it's a personal thing is a little wrong. You just don't like it. The cast really had nothing to do with drinking, it was just a bunch of dudes chilling and talking shit to each other. It sounds like you just don't enjoy chilling with mates and talking shit. Stop being so serious it might kill you one day. Yupp, you have figured me out. Nothing more to add. Well I just think you are being rather retarded. [...] Don't have to act like an ass just because I'm attempting to discuss it with you. Mmhmm. You are the one acting like he knows me in and out.
Going to quote myself here: "Reading the responses in the thread apparently people find this incredibly funny though so I guess yeah, I am just not getting the humor. "
I accept it's a personal thing and that I am rather in the minority and I'll JLIG. How about that?

Very well guess I misunderstood your earlier comments saying how it had something to do with American culture vs your own and took at that laying some excuse away from just not liking it. I apologize for the insult then.

Nice episode, as (nearly) always, thanks

So what is up with DjWheat, is he taking over the show from JP?
They have been talking about him the last two episodes without getting to the point. Now DjWheat is hosting all the episodes on his site.
Would be kind of fun to know what the master of casting is really going to do regarding State of the game?

I think what JP means is Wheat is helping them by hosting and I think eventually Wheat will also be the one that will help them with video when it comes in 2011.

I'm so glad i heard about sotg on day9's daily a while back. I absolutely love it. Everyone on the show is: someone I respect both as a person and a starcraft 2 community member, hilarious (even greg has his moments when he's on the show), and very informative.

I really liked the drunkcast. I was having a beer myself and i was cracking myself up quite a few times, usually due to Nony and Sean. Kennigit wasn't that awesome, the only point where he shined was when it was about the "why can't we have nice maps"-question and he just took over in a convincing fashion...otherwise not nearly as charismatic as Sean, Nony or incontrol, sorry.
And big props to Anna. Even when JP (who was really losing some focus due to his amazing wodka consumption) was giving her some specific SC2-related questions she just chilled and gave each time a pretty reasonable and smart answer. I feared it would be awkard to have her on the show, but really enjoyed the few things she said. I loved the picture in my head, with incontrol sitting at his PC, anna sitting on the bed and both talking with drunk people about starcraft and bullshit.
Props to all you guys and please, please don't ever become too serious. There is way too much seriousness in this world and i really don't want it to invade my recreation time. There is nothing bad with getting deep into a topic and argue properly, but you should never get spoiled because of this.

i do understand your postion and i feel the same but it has nothing to do with german culture!

JP, Sean, Tyler, Geoff (and all the guests and others on this cast),
You guys are awesome. My view of eSports in general (not just SC2) has changed completely because of SotG. Keep up the great work.

Christ! How did a podcast like that managed to upset people? Yeah, it was not the funniest thing ever but it had some gems in there ...InControl taking dancing lessons and LOVING IT!!! LOOOOL So much for the tough guy image eh?

Don't call it cultural differences... what the hell is that supposed to mean. What is everyone in Germany uptight/boring/snobby or something? I haven't been there myself but I am guessing no. Hell look at TLO he jokes around all the time from the little bit I have seen of him. I personally am American and I don't drink or smoke or anything like that but I found the last SotG to be hilarious.
It isn't cultural differences at all... try personality differences.

can't wait till next year :'(

Great podcast for the end of the year. Also, does anyone know the music in the intro?

People are very interesting and strange. What bizarre reactions.
Anyways, really enjoyed the show, cheered me up no end. Have a good holiday and we'll see you in the new year.

Thanks everyone who has dealt with the hosting issues since our last cast. It'll get sorted out in a day or two. I apologize again.

Nony is hilarious. I'm going in for an american blood transfusion.

It seemed like kennigit wanted to bold the player names for the sake of the site as whole, but i don't see how that will bring more traffic and organization than one forum just for the people that are relevant to high level gaming.
Kennigit says that players like qxc aren't going to post anyway, but you wonder why they don't post in the first place. Having a forum where only the pro players can post would likely attract way more people to the site (what's more appealing, a pro only forum of strategy, or pros names easily recognizable in random threads?). Players that don't often post might suddenly find reason to post, as other top level players are all in one easily found forum. Actually the Pro's only forum idea was dismissed in the SOTG a while back ago. Someone said that Pro's would not be likely to share all their builds and information directly to each other so it wouldn't make any sense to have a forum like that. TLO noted almost exactly that complaint with the idea back in October when Geoff first mentioned that an impending change was afoot. I don't think the proposal was completely dismissed though, just one well-known progamer was publicly skeptical of it.
On the specific idea of highlighting quality posters: I sympathize more with Geoff's perspective, even though both his and Kennigit's points in the cast were valid and can coexist. Mainly I'm skeptical of the benefits of the highlights since I personally read TL all the fucking time so I'm aware of almost every professional player or well-known TL personality who'd possibly post, so when I see their name posting, I'm instantly all like, "OK this is worth considering."
I also feel that if budding eSports fans aren't already aware of who the professional players are, they should learn that eventually as they watch more tournaments, read more tournament threads, and basically steep themselves in the scene. If they can't be bothered to even learn about who the best are in Starcraft 2, they might not even care about which posters are actually pro players.
On the completely different note of Kennigit's role dynamic in the last cast: He rambled a few times where he would keep talking even if others wanted to naturally interrupt and steer the conversation away from horse brains or Canadian television. I personally was slightly annoyed, because I wanted to hear Professor Sean's comments on the brain size matter, and Tyler's American pride rant without interruption. It's not a big deal though; he may be a loquacious drunk and people shouldn't disrespect him or count him out simply because he because he was talkative.

I actually agree with both sides. It think there were moments that were funnier than any in the shows history, but there was also some of it's worst (the attempt to answer 60 user questions was a debacle).
It all depends if you can find humor in the moments the show was going sideways.
