Why is everyone acting like it's only America getting screwed here? Blizzard made all regions equal in prize money as if they are equal in skill and that's where these problems are coming from in the first place. If you just region lock things then that is incredibly unfair to the Koreans, it's just punishing them for being better. WCS Korea prize money needs to be higher than the other regions, and not just 25% higher or some shit, they should be getting at least 5x as much. Do that and region lock it all and everything is nice and fair. Blizzard pretending that the monumental skill gap between regions simply doesn't exist is the root cause of these problems.

Like, hell, he's not even stealing viewers away from SotG. Is there anyone out there who, in the absence of this drama, would legitimately feel like they could only watch one of the shows ever?

It's a silly argument to be having. Let's just stop.

i feel like i'll have to choose each week whether i'll watch one or the other for the most part. but ulitmately i think it's the business of JP, Artosis and the other guys involved what they are doing and we should just calm the fuck down.

Curious - why is that? Is your schedule actually so full that you can only watch one show once a week?

Like, I'd think that you could skim both shows for highlights if you actually only had an hour free each week, but that's just me.

i want to watch sc2 talkshows, but i don't want to spend that much time on it and i don't wanna skip through shows. i guess that's that. opinions are opinions, man. everybody has an asshole. or something.

Yah I totally respect that. Seems a little weird to me that blame goes to Artosis for providing an alternative - kind of like blaming Google for making me figure out whether it or AskJeeves is better, but it's not that big a deal either way.

oh yeah, we don't know anything about the situation and we don't need to either, so no need to go crazy imo. it's their personal thingy. all we should be doing is decide which show we want to watch (or maybe watch both)

i think it's kinda funny how aggressively TB is talking about the Koreans 'marching through NA' when he's got his whole team over there lol

You still need to follow a variety of stories, I remember some announcement last year about a partnership between premier LAN organizers to invite the champion of the previous LAN tournament to their event to have a continuing storyline, but it never happened.

The winner of IEM WC wasn't at MLG, the winner of MLG isn't going to be at Dreamhack.

All I'm hearing is Blizzard finally confirming they own and influence everything related to SC2, from balance to maps to now, tournaments.

I hate blizzard's incessant idea that there needs to be a singular story for people to follow. No there does not. I enjoy all the tournaments as individual ones. You can still follow your favourite players at different tournaments. There does not to be something linking them all and blizzard is just forcing that idea on people.

OMG! Stop this unifying, streamlining making it easier please! It sounds just like the same dumbing down they did with wow and d3...We are Starcraft players, we love to find out and entangle stories, not having everything served on a silver platter without getting into it! Give us chaos to keep our community together!

I think the issue is that there's more motivating this system than just "everything should be a pure meritocracy".

We all recognize that there's nothing inherent in Europeans / Americans that makes them less-good at SC2 than Koreans. So if you ever want non-Koreans to be as good as Koreans in general, you need to give them special attention and in particular spend more money incentivizing and training them.

It's the same reason why we have progressive tax brackets. People at the bottom don't really deserve to be at the bottom a lot of the time; there are a lot of people who have the potential to be top-tier players, but for external reasons would never get there without some assistance.

If they wanted to launch it with HotS, why did they not announce it when the game was launched and not a few weeks later; subsequently giving the organizers more time to prepare?

NASL could easily have the Premier League players or challenger league players play in a qualifier on weekends and then have a LAN finals like earlier. Just a single elim bracket of doom. A newguy league player qualifier can be run on weekends too. gogo.

Wow DJWheat with the best questions.

4 People are currently working on WCS full time. That is absurd. Hopefully this gets rectified soon if they wish to have something done well.

edit: Man, TB hard hitting question now as well. This is murder.

Gotta give credit to cloaken for staying alive though.

only 4 people for the dedicated eSports team? That seems shockingly low. I understand more people are brought in to get stuff done but 4 dedicated staff is barely even a 'team'.

I wasn't expecting that but, and maybe I'm being naive, but I was really hoping for him to be at least a little less company spiel and more straight from the heart, I guess is a way to put it.

Edit: What I'm trying to say is that I was hoping for a little less "We wish you well with your future endeavors" type speak
