That makes no sense. The whole point of haviing orb on is to talk about the scandal, otherwise why have him on the show at all? I see no value in having him on if you're not going to talk about the issue everyone wants to hear about.

Broadening the topic to whether the consequence is warranted, whether players and casters should be held to to same standard, how to deal with rage, should rage be tolerated in e-sports ... You have two hyper-successful casters that used to have their own rage problems, an MLG caster, an EG player/caster/coach, and a laid-back vodka-sipping white Buddha. It's the perfect mix for this discussion. Yeah, there's plenty of room to touch on the topic on a way that plays to the hosts strengths, rather than turning it into a philosophy 101 debate.

They'd like nothing better than to see him exiled from the SC2 community. It's ridiculous but much of the SC2 community, especially reddit are quick to pounce on any drama they can find. They've got a bad case of schadenfreude.

It doesn't have to be in depth but the show is to talk about current issues and it only seems appropriate to talk at least a little about it. That being said, it doesn't have to be dramatic or an argument or anything. Just sum things up for people who aren't TL junkies, give orb a minute to speak his thoughts on it and just move on. You don't even have to take calls about it or anything.

I'll be very happy if you talk at length about the IEM games you watched the replays of, that'll be very interesting, the Orb situation is not, at least not the aspects you can fit in a two hour talk show like State of the Game.

Orb has apologized for it already. Instead, I really hope they focus on the bigger issue: The fact that gamer lingo commonly includes words like nigger, faggot, rape, and retard. Obviously this sort of language is offensive and politically incorrect, but is it something we can get rid of on the internet where everyone is anonymous? Should petty insults like these said in the heat of the moment on competitive online gaming even be taken seriously? Do public figures feel like their privacy is being invaded when even their not-on-the-job behavior is scrutinized? And do they feel like the SC2 community is too hostile? See: Incontrol bashing, Idra bashing, Desrow bashing, Tyler bashing, PPV mayhem, Stephano forfeit drama, the list goes on...

It's not that I think that it's a non-issue, but there are so many people who hold the fundamental ideology that an offensive word is only offensive if the receiving party takes it as such. (In my opinion this is a pretty uneducated and ignorant standpoint, but we all have our opinions.)

Orb did not apologize for lying though in fact in his apology he still says he was telling the truth and that his original story that it wasn't him stands. They could discuss that and have orb explain away every reason the community thinks he is lying to clear that up. They could also discuss if reddit has gotten to powerful and if they see more "witchhunts" happening in the future and what that means for the industry and the people in it.

Do you think players are casters should/are held to different standards? If one day Sheth (tee hee) lost his shit and dropper n-bombs everywhere, would/should he get let go of TL? I'm genuinely interested in what you guys think. I'm way past judging Orb. I'm more interested in Alex's reasons for letting him go, which seem to go beyond just the business of retaining sponsors and represent his hopes for the community and its values.

(In my opinion this is a pretty uneducated and ignorant standpoint, but we all have our opinions.) An offensive word *is* offensive if the receiving party takes offense. By definition, if you were offended, than the word was offensive. The question is, on what level of offense is this? This is the internet. I can't punch you in the face for calling me a nigger. In real life, if I called you a nigger, it could easily start a physical brawl. If I called you a nigger on the internet, you could just ignore my idiocy. More importantly, you are anonymous online, so you know he can't be insulting your race personally. It *is* still racist, because it is a racially charged word used offensively, but it's not the same level as bad-mouthing a black guy in his face. In this case, clearly Orb wasn't even meaning to be racist. It's an unfortunate reality that words like nigger, faggot, and retard are used interchangeably with more politically correct words like idiot, fucker, and asshole. It's been a part of the English language for a long time, so it's not always obvious that they are being racist or bigoted without meaning to. Orb should be held responsible, like he was. He should have apologized, like he did. And we should move on, but we aren't.
