Destiny said it best on SotG Naniwa should've played the game and treated it like a ladder game
What he did was wrong. GOMTV's reaction is probably also wrong, but they were forced into a situation where they felt they had to punish Naniwa.
Also, from the perspective of MKP's twitter, he said he would've loved the opportunity to play on that stage, and I'm sure he's not the only player that would've loved a chance to play Nestea on the stage even if there was no money on the line. Naniwa took the opportunity to play Blizzard Cup 2011 meaning another player couldn't, then he wasted his chance to beat Nestea again on the big stage.

If the match is then completely inconsequential, you're not going into the game fresh and motivated. Even if Nani/Nestea would've been played "properly", it would've been a half-assed game between two frustrated, uncaring (about that game) players.
First of all I don't like how ppl asume Nestea didn't care either. I think he cared because he have some rivalry with Naniwa and I'm pretty sure he would do his best do beat him. So lets not use plural, ok? Second, preforming under not optimal circumstances is part of being a pro player. And ppl care about how well players preform while stressed and/or frustrated because it shows character and self control. So if they manged to put a good fight ppl would be even more impressed just because they had nothing (except respect) to gain.

Geoff was making ass jokes about Mia and tbh he did went a bit too far. Well, yes he was drunk, but still. You know he crossed the line when Destiny refused to participate in it and actually provided a valid point about bringing interest to non-sc2 people because Mia has a large following.

Geoff is by far my favorite personality in the SC2 community (besides maybe Nony :D).
Awesome episode, guys! Keep doing what you're doing.

Haha wow, incontrol looks shitfaced after 3 hours xD

@tyler, naniwa didnt know he had to try his hardest in every matchup in order to participate? It's kind of silly to have a rule where you don't get invited to a code S spot because you simply didnt try hard enough (in his case, he didnt try at all). This kind of reminds me of the lady at mcdonalds that sued them because she got burned by coffee and she won because the coffee cup didnt say 'WARNING HOT'. Having that rule is an insult to the players. It's not gom's fault with the format, who knew these 2 would LOSE ALL THEIR GAMES. It's part naniwa's fault for being in that position in the first place. He should acknowledge the fact that HE lost those 3 games, not anyone else, and that he should man up and play the last game, because ITS HIS FAULT he lost all 3 games, and his fault that the last match didnt matter.

Does she have any relevance at all to SC2? If all you're after is a pretty face put anna on, or any of the women who play. Hell, get MaddeLisk. At least they are part of the scene who have things to say which I am interested in.
She was like 'I used to play wow and now i play LoL' and I was all 'I totally don't give a fuck about you right now. why are you on this show?'
chill out, It was a drunk episode so you can't take it seriously and she was there because she was mentioned in the discussion before and also because every show host likes to generate some drama/controversy

Great show ! I just love Day[9]'s smile, so refreshing.

I think they went easier on Naniwa precisely cause he was a foreigner, and also because he seemed to not really know the severity of his actions after committing them. Anyway, that's all speculation so it's hard to tell what they actually would do. I do agree with Tyler though- the nature in which they banned Naniwa is sketchy as hell. I have no problems with them actually banning a player but it's the vague rule and punishment that they used to do so that bothers me. Lifetime ban if it was a korean? So why is CoCa going to qualify for the next GSL?
Because the match in which he did it was not a GSL match maybe?

Just finished listening to SotG it was great except...
...wtf happened when Mia Rose came on? It was like the pretty girl walks into the room and a bunch of boys get all quiet all of a sudden. The only people who were trying were iNcontroL and djWHEAT... and they still couldn't salvage the conversation. It's like the podcast died. I know it was late and you were drinking all night long but... you were drinking all night a minute before she came on the show so it wasn't just the booze.
Anyway, great show, but a really awkward ending.

Is there a way to download SotG's VOD without viewing on MLG's website?

o.o wut. Of silly things said in this thread recently, this caught my eye. Sir, I respectfully ask you to not throw random and unfounded (and REALLY SILLY) mud around...
I thought the episode was hilarious... idk why it seems every thread has to devolve into Naniwa

Just watched the whole show, took a huge nose dive when Mia Rose joined. Was facepalming as iNcontroL was trying to save, while all the others were just awkward and quiet.
|
Other than the bit at the end where Mia Rose came on and it got all awkward, it was an absolutely fantastic show! I've loved all the shows so far this year, and I'm looking forward to 2012! Great work!

I would like to state that my reaction exactly mirrored Day9's when Mr. Boris came on. lol

you couln´t hear shit when tyler did his shoutouts.

to be fair, that was 4 hours into the show and 2am. I think everyone was just failing at that point. Getting her on the show when everyone was in that state was a stupid idea. you hear me JP?!? STUPID!

Just had to say something, as a French... You do not, no you do not drink wine in that kind of glass Incontrol. You need something like that, depending on the wine you drink :
![[image loading]](http://www.seilly.com/sites/default/files/actualites/Wine-Glasses.jpg) I know for many it's nit picking, but it's actually quite important. Drinking some alcohol is not only drinking, that's cultural ! And the form of the glass have some kind of implication on the drink (concentration of the gas, color, odor...). A whisky glass is large enough to diffuse the aroma because they are strong, while a champagne glass is thin to concentrate them.
Same for Day[9], you got to drink your delirium in a glass like that :

I'm disappointed they spent ages talking about the 7-probe rush and didn't discuss the good games that were played at the tournament =/

No he actually earned that spot. Either that or somebody fucked up because just about anyone paying attention was under the assumption he was already in Code S January 2012. GOM should've just made him apologize. No he did NOT earn the spot. Please look at the "Naniwa not invited to Code S" OP. He was being CONSIDERED for the spot and was a favorite probably. Not anymore. that's what the children at gomtv are saying. check out this post where a guy has gathered several quotes of MLG saying that naniwa got a Code S spot http://www.reddit.com/r/starcraft/comments/nc8g6/naniwa_loses_code_s_spot/c37zdqg Yeah he earned that spot, and the fact that GOM felt they had to rewrite history to justify their action is interesting. (the fact that they find people to believe their history rewrite and defending it is also interesting, in a different way) Everyone knew that naniwa was code S next season. The fact that suddenly idra is the one getting the code S spot shows it, as they wouldn't had missed to promote it if it was the case. Idra was to go in up and downs. In an inside the game he says he's very glad to not have go through code A and to directly play the up and downs. Naniwa was marked code S in liquipedia for instance. When nani won in MLG, the LR thread was full of congratulations for his code S spot (and full of quotes from the GSL rules to prove it) MLG wrote multiple articles in which they talked about naniwa in code S. If GOM suddenly change it's rules, I4m interested to know how MLG will react. You can also see here for the official announcement http://www.gomtv.net/2011gslsponsors3/news/65291 Yes, Naniwa earned that spot, and was the very first foreigner to do so by the way. GSL-MLG gave a list of tournament in which code S spots and blizzard Cup spots were offered, and it happened that Naniwa qualified for both of them. Or you consider that DRG, MC and MMA were also invited by GOM in code S and didn't earned their spot ?
