The reason for this is that the hosts are of course very much a part of the scene. If the scene is still small and not very serious they can sit there and talk "shit", joking about things etc. And make a very enjoyable show.
But with a large and very serious scene it will be hard for them to keep saying the things that made SOTG so great.
Geoff for one is so funny to listen to because of stuff like his horse rant and such. But those things are not "ok" from a spokesperson for a company etc. And that's where the scene is taking him.
So i would think that the SC2 shows will get more and more serious with less of the "funny" stuff. I will miss the joking. But i will enjoy seeing SC2 as a real sport. Waaaaaah! Then I don't want SC2 to become a real sport. I like it how it is, with streams a plenty and no seriousness. Yes same for me, I don't like it when people always yell that we have to promote e-sports and everything. Sure it can grow a little bigger, but I don't want it to be next to any "normal" sport.
I like that I am part of a smaller group of people and have the opportunity to watch the pro's play everyday on their personal stream. And the most important part, like what you just said, all the seriousness doesn't have to be there for me. I like that the pro's and community members can speak their mind.
For me it is fine if the teams and players can get a normal salary and don't have to have a side job anymore. It is sustainable for them to play Starcraft 2 (Or any game for that matter) and don't have to win every tournament they participate in.
I'd also like to hear the perspective from the people on SOTG on this. I understand that every pro gamer wants an salary like Messi or Pacquiao. But they have to understand that they need to give up a lot of there other stuff to get there. And also if the viewers will still like it.

Pretty much this. I mean, am I the only one who watches SotG with the sole purpose of being entertained by Starcraft related humor? Not saying that I hate being educated or anything, it's just there's really no other show that was as funny as SotG (although there's the D9D's and Destiny's stream..)
Love you Geoff ♥

For the most part they don't even talk about balance, they usually just talk about tournaments, updates, or current events. If I want to see a perfectly balanced show that gives game advice theres a show that I can go to...
Yeah I agree, it actually pisses me off that people got so uptight about having 4 protoss on last week. We know from experience that Inc and Tyler are pretty unbiased, and what good would having IdrA on do anyway? People just want to have their own views vindicated in a pointless balance argument. Last week revealed something important; protoss universally feel that PvZ balance is changing. Having IdrA on to go 'waaa early scouting waaa death ball, protoss bullshit' would only have been irritating.
Agreed. The part every person left out of their bitching about 4 Protoss being on the show was the end where they said: "What we need to do is go back to the drawing board and rethink what we have been doing." That part is left out for some reason.
I hope a final there is something awesome this week. A final show down between DTs and banshees?

It's not the rants, it's not the jokes. It's the interaction that is or surrounds these that creates a dialog that is fun. You can have this with many different topics in many different ways. Even if you go a super serious route, I don't think you are constrained that much since you can still do even the less appropriate ones to an extend.
Go back and listen to the first casts. Lets say, the first 10 or 15 even. The majority is about units, strategies, development, tournaments that kinda stuff. It's very fun a
nd in that setting, one you guys seem to oppose, they still we're able to joke around plenty. I just don't get it when I read these comments, I can literally take the Starcraft out and it seems like you guys are talking about a different show. Why not listen to a different show then. It just seems unsupportive to me.

Is the show still on for tonight? I don't see it on the Upcoming Events on TL.

Both JP and Incontrol have tweeted about the show tonight. If I had to guess the reason for it not being on the TL calendar is because JP turned planning over to Geoff for this show and this detail was probably forgotten about.

Tonight is a sad sad night. Hopefully I have enough beer to get me through the trauma.

I don't want to stay up till 4.30am if theres no SOTG.. is there definitely a show on tonight?

Geoff just summed up why hes leaving sotg in inside the game. The reason was partly because its not a part of EG and its sponsors. Must say EG doesnt make themselves popular with this choice.

That's not really what he said. He said he's short on time, and he needs to focus on things that are going to further his career and his team, such as NASL and practicing. That's completely different from EG/Scoots saying he can't do SotG, choosing to focus on things that help your team is not at all the same as being forced to.
edit: as the poster below me pointed out, SotG does bring attention to EG and its sponsors (they get plugged every episode), so it's also pretty illogical to assume Scoots and Steelseries and all them wouldn't like it... if anything, it's advertising they don't have to pay for.

I hope thats not the case......I stumbled onto TL and SToG almost the same night 7 months ago. Geoff was the reason why I started watching streams and listening to SToG every week. Idra and Geoff being on together and me loving listening to them on SToG is the sole reason why i bought a Steel Series v2 headset and EG mouse pad. The reason why i have a NASL subscription even though i watch it live every night.
The same goes for my two friends who now watch NASL and listen to SToG at work as well.........Brotoss ftw

Geoff also just said on ITG that he would be coming on SotG as an occasional guest, which hopefully will stop these stupid EG rumors.

So I guess that's why he changes his twitter account to include "EG" at the exact same time?
He can't spell it out much more clearly without saying it flat out. "I have very good reasons". If he doesn't have time then he shouldn't have a problem saying that and not leave it so muddy.

Wow i just watched this it is truly amazing i really hope this gets going looking forward to the show tonight
