But do you think any pro gamer will want to get up/stay up to those times just to be on a show every week which will interfere with their sleep schedule? I don't know. Exactly. One may be fine with coming on to the show once in a while but expecting to put up with it every week is simply ignorant.

I mean they don't talk about balance all that much, and I feel as if everyone except idra when he's on is pretty reasonable to all races. For the most part they don't even talk about balance, they usually just talk about tournaments, updates, or current events. If I want to see a perfectly balanced show that gives game advice theres a show that I can go to... Yeah I agree, it actually pisses me off that people got so uptight about having 4 protoss on last week. We know from experience that Inc and Tyler are pretty unbiased, and what good would having IdrA on do anyway? People just want to have their own views vindicated in a pointless balance argument. Last week revealed something important; protoss universally feel that PvZ balance is changing. Having IdrA on to go 'waaa early scouting waaa death ball, protoss bullshit' would only have been irritating.

And most of us probably know from experience that getting up 1hr earlier in the morning is not so easy to do =P, let alone to be talkative on those hours.

The reason for this is that the hosts are of course very much a part of the scene. If the scene is still small and not very serious they can sit there and talk "shit", joking about things etc. And make a very enjoyable show. But with a large and very serious scene it will be hard for them to keep saying the things that made SOTG so great. Geoff for one is so funny to listen to because of stuff like his horse rant and such. But those things are not "ok" from a spokesperson for a company etc. And that's where the scene is taking him. So i would think that the SC2 shows will get more and more serious with less of the "funny" stuff. I will miss the joking. But i will enjoy seeing SC2 as a real sport.

Agree with The KY and ronpaul012 I think SotG is nice the way they do it. As long as they cover the whole game and all the different aspects at some point I am fine with it. People qq'ing about imbalance should not be on SotG if that is the only thing thay talk about - it just makes for a discussion that will not go anywhere. People qq'ing should start figuring out their problems instead of crying about imbalance. Hope they keep on getting lots of guest on like Naniwa and Socke in the future :D

SC2 can become a real e-sport, but it will never become a "real sport". The scene can grow without "selling out" and becoming 100% a property of whatever sponsors finds a fleeting profit from the community in the current month. That is just a sign of a weak community. It's not a good thing if the culture of the community needs to fuck off if it is to grow, and the truth is that it's not like that. The scene grows just fine with people who find a real interest in SC2. We have a choice, we can try to turn everything regarding SC2 and our community into a product which can be sold by some random company, or we can try to keep it the way we want it to be and turn it in to the best thing ever, which includes lack of 'marketing language' and saying "gtfo" to incessant commercialism.

He'd be perfect though, you really couldn't have anyone else on the show instead of him. Oh, and by the way. He hates horses. oh yeah i heard of that guy too. hes pretty good at sc2. hes in GM and has a stream check him out. Perfect for the job imo because hes funny as fuck and is a pretty cool guy.

Well, i don't see the difference between esports and sports so. But anyway, we both know what we mean. I don't think it's about selling out. It's about becoming more serious. If corporate sponsorship is needed to fund the big tournaments the community just need to be serious enough to attract said companies. It's not about all the players dressing up in suit and tie. Just being a little more professional. I agree with what you saying about keeping the sc2 scene on the right side of that thin line between a growing competative scene with lots of sponsorship on one side and just another corporate tool on the other. I just think it's normal that the community, or at least the more famous people in it have to mature as the game grows.

I started listening during the beta last summer before geoff was even a pillar or a guest and ever since then its gradually became a big part of my sc2 life. thanks for making my senior year of college an enjoyable one. i'm still going to tune in weekly because if day9 shows up it will still be the best sc2 show. (sorry but inside the game doesnt really appeal to me, i learn by watching pro replays not discussing it on a podcast) jp is the best host in sc2 and i hope his new job doesnt take time away from sotg.

Then I don't want SC2 to become a real sport. I like it how it is, with streams a plenty and no seriousness.
