Maybe you're right, but maybe not. I think he's got a thick enough skin not to care about whiners. My guess (and it's only a guess) is that he leaves because a) he has to stop working like a maniac before he gets burned out so he just steps back from whatever he can so he can sleep 5 hours once a week instead of the usual 3. b) JP became full time MLG lately. Geoff is NASL. Both organizations are competitors (or competitors to be) on the Western starcraft scene, and with sponsors pbbly getting bigger all the time, all of them might have their word to say about who does what and when with the money they provide. Probably the same reason why people from different TV channels do not meet regularly. It might not be the reason (yet) but as e-sports will grow and more money gets involved, I guess these things are bound to happen someday.
If a replacement ever is to be found, my vote would go to Destiny. He's a good player, articulate, thought provoking - with a crass humor - at times, probably still has some free time to dedicate to that (and could benefit from it) and he's zerg. As long as he refrains from too much imba talk and being too rude, he might possibly make a great pillar for the show. Lots of other great names out there but all those I can think of are too politically correct/dull to make for an entertaining couple of hours.
If Destiny is ever on SotG as any sort of permanent figure, I will never listen to this show again. I don't want to listen to someone more belligerent than Geoff with less game knowledge talking out of his ass. If this was done, I would be appalled.
That said, they do need to replace him with someone eventually. The rotating door of guests each week is cool, but I would like to see someone like Hot_Bid or Artosis become more accessible to the community through this show.

Incontrol leaving has nothing to do with what I presume is that you think he is leaving because of the hate posts. He is just too busy. Think about his life for a few seconds and this is just based off what I've seen / think to be right.
Trips all over for various events / meetings per week. NASL - probably what 7 hours a day? Workout - 1 hour (assumed) Practice - as much as he can Coaching - what ever comes his way Inside the game - couple hours a week Anna - probably an hour or so a day? Not to forget to mention the normal stuff people do throughout the day.
Thank god he is so strong minded and lets it almost wash off him like water on a ducks back or however that is supposed to go -_-
Unfortunately though this might kill SOTG Sorry, the rest of you are really good, but he glues you all in.
It's so funny how you give one hour for incontrol to be with his girlfriend haha
"hmm i have to practice let me just be one hour with anna then i will send her off"

That old-skool BW song is so epic!
I SHALL USE THE POWER OF SIMPLE GOOGLING AND FIND THY TREASURED SONG.
(I think it´s that one, otherwise you can just look through the ones there are in the related. Also, was it really that hard to just google it? You even knew what song it was man...)

Yeah, I guess that's why it will not happen, many people would be upset by it ; but again many people would get upset by Inc. too so it's probably a double-edged sword. I love Artosis but I don't know if he'd be a good substitute here. I'd rather go for Tasteless then. I don't know Hotbid's casting skills so can't discuss that one.

Exclusivity was pulled and that's what tends to happen when a scene gets bigger and competition pops up needing more eyeballs for money. Incontrol is wildly popular for his opinion and I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted his opinion limited to one avenue.
I just don't appreciate the whole PR crap about how he wanted more time to practice and was too busy. Everyone creates time for what's important to them and SoTG just wasn't anymore. This was all about money/contracts/obligations and I wish they'd just be honest about it. They won't because it'll reflect negative on the show.
I'd say goodluck to Incontrol but, he doesn't need it. He'll be around for a long time, maybe not as the best player but, as a popular face and opinion. Which is what he's perfectly set himself up to accomplish.
what the hell? shut the fuck up. who the fuck are you to say why incontrol made this decision? don't jump to stupid conclusions like "he did it because of money" when you don't have any fucking basis making blind statements like that. the comments in this thread about him leaving are moronic.
Good new IMO. Incontrol can be a funny guy at times but when it comes to actual proper serious discussion (which sotg has plenty of) he's terrible. He says ridiculous things and doesn't try to justify them at all which was super fucking annoying.
Mmm...love him or hate him, Incontrol contributed greatly to this podcast and help make it what it is today. Thanks for everything you've done, Geoff! If I ever catch you irl, let me take you for a drink or something for all the great moments on SotG

You mean like in the Great SOTG War of EG vs Liquid where Tyler said the same things over and over again and Inc made him look silly?
Other than that no serious discussion comes to mind. They're always telling jokes and mucking around.

Yeah I also automatically thought of Destiny as the only person that can replace Incontrol.

Destiny doesn't watch tournaments.
If Incontrol is going to be replaced then my vote goes to Hotbid.

I agree that this is basically what happened, but considering Scoots' (and thus EG's) heavy involvement with onemoregame.tv it's not entirely surprising that this is the choice he made (or was made for him). After all, contrary to any moral stand you might want to take, you are beholden to the hand that feeds you.
To be honest the show has been somewhat declining ever since Tyler's little slump + Day[9]'s thesis + iNcontroL's NASL involvement. It just feels like nobody's really had their heart in it – maybe a short hiatus after MLG is just what the show needs to get back on track. Hopefully Tyler will kick ass in Columbus and get his groove back, Day9 will be able to fully commit to e-sports and a new pillar can be found.
Regardless, JP is a hero and I'll tune in to pretty much any content he puts out.
I must admit I was a little sad with this episode. A discussion on balance with 4 players of one race (3 of which are not achieving to a standard they want, the other just lost a major final) is not a balanced discussion. I don't care about going over a balance debate AGAIN but if you do, make it an equal argument (or better discussion). Otherwise it comes across shoddy journalism verging on propaganda.

I can't help but see the sense in a lot of the speculation. I don't think Inc is making any decisions solely for the money, but if he has to cut something from his crazy schedule, SOTG is the activity that doesn't really further his interests much. SOTG offers exposure, and he already has that.
If Idra stops coming on as guest as well, that would really point to ITG restricting them.
SOTG definitely needs a new personality to 'make' the show, and keep it conversational. I notice that shows (SOTG and others) that don't have a key personality can become pretty rigid with guests just answering the host's questions in turn. Tyler is great but needs a more animated guest to work off of (guests like Idra, Socke, etc are also like that). The only guest I've seen that can take over is Artosis.
Just got to the bit where they talk about how hard PvZ is and I am laughing my arse off. 4 protoss just whining and I imagine IdrA's face. And I imagine the faces of all the zerg forum whiners who have spent the last 3 months saying everyone knows zerg is broken and here are four protoss pros saying completely without irony that they are having real trouble in what was previously a match up heavily weighted towards them.
I am also imagining Day[9]'s face when everyone realises why he didn't properly argue balance against IdrA...because time is his greatest ally.
I can see the logic behind Incontrol's decision from a business perspective but, as it often happens, business-driven decissions disregard the importance of activities that do not add directly to the bottom line. State of the Game is, in my opinion, the only SC-related production that is comparable to programmes about, say, football - this is how good it has been for almost a year now. Yep, Day9's lack of contribution for the last several months has hurt it a lot but even without him it has been quality.
Of course, the show will carry on strong without Incontrol and it will be a bigger loss for him than for them but it's a shame nevertheless. The biggest winner will be the new pillar, whoever he is - assuming that JP keeps the format intact.
Really sad that Geoff is leaving, sotg and his presence in it is what initially drove me to Starcraft 2 and he was the hearth of the show.
I can't help but to feel that concept of SOTG was too romantic and cool to survive the corporate backing and time that is put in ITG. The laid back attitude and a platform where you are free to criticise anything you want seems out of place in this stage of Starcraft 2.
Can't blame Geoff, I'm only sad cuz he chose ITG, witch I neither watch nor like (don't get me wrong, I love Wheat, he's a cool guy, just don't like the format and the way ITG is constructed) over SotG, witch I loved for so long.
