Indeed I'm not sure what the difference is with Blizzard's stance on hacking now.
I'm not proud of it but I will admit I tried maphack a few times in WC3 when I was a lot younger. They just tempbanned your WC3 cd-key from ladder play (1 month iirc), and reset your win/loss on your account. You could still go on B.net, play custom games, dota etc. After a month the ban was lifted and you could go back to ladder. Didn't have to buy a new copy of the game but it did discourage me from hacking again.
I doubt they would ban all games linked to your Bnet account just because you hacked in one game, I'm pretty sure they would get a looooot of crap for that (even though IMO it would be perfectly fair).

Anyone else feel that this could all be solved by having a guestpass league? Then all these people are cut out from anyone that actually payed for the product.
|
If Blizzard doesn't take a serious stance on maphacking then my interest in SC2 will eventually taper off, just like it did for Brood Wars. Blizzard needs to handle this quickly and appropriately.

I've played a few games when i felt for sure the other guy is maphacking. Sure enough when i watch the replay it is obvious as.
My question is, do i report/submit replays to blizzard or something?

LOL he's so bad in the game vs NEO

It's 14 days or 7 hours whichever one comes first.
Blizzard blizzard blizzard.... I sincerely hope you have some master plan up your sleeve to fix this and several other bnet problems. You just gave birth to a baby and now wolves are eating it.

However, his silly scouting pattern and his camera view in the replay is a much better indicator that he could be hacking. No definitive proof is possible either way though.
So he making proxy gateways in 4 player map w/o even scouting, and then he is looking into FOW to see where he places his barracks and immediatly places pylon in that space.
No doubt it's MH.

100% maphack, please report this asshole so he gets banned
|
yes, I watched the replay, and I have to say this was a maphack of some kind. He doesnt scout at all, just guesses your starting position for proxying, and as someone else said before, around the 1 minute mark he stares at your base as if planning the pylon. Send the replay to Blizzard, and maybe they could watch the Huk replays, see if he used something there.

ROFL!
Check out the NeO match! He actually loose with maphack. =D

100% hacks.. also the way he looks in teh shadows on top of your bases/wall

btw if you have maphack, is it possible to shoot up cliffs without having sight there? cause i just met a zerg in ZvZ who shot my mutas in my base from down below on meta without having any overlord sight or any units inside my base :/

If your mutas attack its possible to shoot back because u get sight on the units even tho they inside the fog of war.
I guess its possible to attack units inside the fog with maphack tho. Because i remember people hacking in wc3 classic when orc towers were incredibly strong. They build them near creepspots and clicked creeps inside fog of war to attack them. There was a way to detect it and report them. Tillerman had it explained on his INClan hp and began a huge maphackerhunt. It really worked and alot of them if not all were banned.

as i have understood the new "high ground" advantage is that if you're in fog of war and shoot.. the enemy will not get sight of the unit... they will be able to see where it is.. but any attempt to shoot back without getting proper sight will fail
though if your mutas were pretty close to the ledge some of them might have poked over just an inch enough to become visible... i have encountered trying to hide overlords on ledges just to have them shot down due to becoming visible even though it looked safe

Blizzard could come up with a 'paria' status. You've proven yourself to be a cheat online, so why not take that away. Paria status will only let you play against friends, singleplayer and vs AI. Sounds fair enough to me...You don't immediately lose your money, but you don't trouble random people with your cheating.

Even if we see it's a maphacker I really doubt it's enough proof for blizzard to ban him.

In WoW it is very very rare to get perma bans for hacks. I got caught with a bot leveling my characters twice on one account and both times only received a temporary ban. WoW however is a pay to play game, and giving a permanent ban to a player would be a loss of sales. Hopefully the administrative powers are higher in SC2 because of the pay to purchase free to play nature. A ban would either result in the same annual income or an increase in income if they decide to repurchase. (Altho I am not counting the loss of banned accounts not purchasing later released expansions in this case)
