I don't think they will ban player cause he was looking into FOW or made proxy pylon w/o knowing where is the opponent.

I understand that blizzard needs to investigate things like this and find the source before banning like mad, but what I don't understand is how a company as big as blizzard cannot take more preventitive measures in hacks. There is already an obvious dischack, and an obvious map hack, what is in store for us in a few weeks from now? A virus in the custom map like there were in the warcraft 3 customs? Seriously blizz...Can't wait for the the ICCUP servers...I think they protect their users more than this. Starcraft 2 is going down the drain REAL fast in my eyes. I don't think you understand how Blizzard's anticheat works. They allow people to cheat with barely any protection early into the release. Then suddenly a wave of users get banned and the hack is added to their AC's list. Steam does this the same way with VAC, punkbuster does as well. On the plus side, when this wave happens, all these people's keys will be perma'd and will need to be repurchased.

[url blocked] (I'm Jacquerie, Harakan is my mate, I'm talking about MaVo the Protoss and Swamrazer the Zerg) Protoss cannon rushes directly to the terran base in an 8 player map. Then looks at my base through fog of war at 9:30 and at 14:50. Zerg is also suspicious, looking at my base at 16:10 and then at 19:02, after which he leaves. Yep, we actually won, but this thread made me wonder.

do you see green in a place where you want and you can build, but it's under fog of war or black on minimap? Because if the answer is yes: it's a good news for map hackers :/ lucky shots... More: in my opinion this situation is not fair, because thanks to that you can see walls like here (in the 1st post of this thread) or check for opponent's exps...

If so when does the "early stage" end because they are still hacked to hell? That is when I'll have confidence restored, when the "early stage" you refer to is over.

On a marginally related--but interesting--side note, this is basically how Mao Ze Dong silenced some dissenters back in the day: have people give open criticism, and after a while, prosecute those who did. You also have to take into perspective the fact that SCBW and D2 are basically games from the equivalent of the Bronze Age, though WC3 is a bit newer. However, even though they are still "hacked to hell" does not mean this method is not effective. Clamping down on maphacks after the early stage eliminates those maphacks. It is inevitable that people will still develop maphacks, but at least you got rid of a batch of earlier ones. It is kind of the same as saying: "well, my kitchen will get dirty anyways, so I might as well not clean it after the early stage."

I guess its possible to attack units inside the fog with maphack tho. Because i remember people hacking in wc3 classic when orc towers were incredibly strong. They build them near creepspots and clicked creeps inside fog of war to attack them. There was a way to detect it and report them. Tillerman had it explained on his INClan hp and began a huge maphackerhunt. It really worked and alot of them if not all were banned. i wasn't attacking, just flying them there while preparing my push against his army so no attacking

The kitchen analogy is a great one, but with that same analogy if you have guests come over for the first time (Buyers) and they see your kitchen is filled with filth (Hacks) they are not going to enjoy eating your food (playing your game). So why not clean up as you go and do a final clean sweep when you are finished?

There was a great story awhile back, I can't remember which game exactly, but basically it involved clanbase (huge site, tons of leagues, etc) and a player, who, somehow managed to get/steal/hack a database from one of these pay-for-hack sites. Basically what the site did was charge people money for very well-made pretty undetectable hacks, however they kept a list of anyone who had ever bought one of these hacks off them. This guy managed to get that list. I hope I'm not mangling the story, but the short of it is, the list was huge.. included admins.. respected clan members from big teams, etc, etc, etc. These were people embedded in the community, never would've been suspected.. basically the clever ones. I actually don't mind the 'lolol' blatent hackers like this guy and his incriminating friend 'half' here. Its the intelligent ones, the ones who don't stare at the fog of war, who only use the minimap, who do it cleverly. Weird bastards. Anyway heres hoping that Blizzard is logging these fledgling cheaters and will do a mass cull sometime soon to send a message.

Also, diablo 2's warden has been kept up to date surprisingly well considering there is hardly any profit being made from the game any more. I'm sure you will hear about the bans when they happen. Tons of posts on the forums saying that their brother used the cheats and not them, people claiming that they never used a cheat in their life. This is the norm for counter-strike players, where hacks are so easily accessible and your account is so easily lost. But the way that you shit on Blizzard's anti-cheat it is almost like you don't want it to work. Have a grain of confidence in Blizzard, they aren't tossing one of their flagship titles off to the wayside while hackers run rampant.

The number 1 thing that gets under my skin is the time frame. It takes blizz forever and a month to take care of things like this. After this wave there will be another and another of hackers running rampant. And it will take blizz equally as long to respond to each wave. In the mean time, we (the honest gamers that game for the competitiveness) are stuck taking bs losses to these guys on our accounts that we bought. Furthermore, has a blue even publicly ackwoledged that they are working on this? (Link if you say yes).

Furthermore, has a blue even publicly ackwoledged that they are working on this? (Link if you say yes). There will always be cheaters. but how many are going to kick down for another copy. How many are going to say 'eh, lets play legit now I don't want to spend more on a third copy' How many will just say 'well, that was no fun. A hollow win isn't as rewarding and now I'm out a bnet account.' Again, you don't get how the system works. Lets say they did come out and say 'yeah we know lots of hackers, blahblahblah working on it'. All it would do is cause the group who were going to release their original injectors or hooks to hold off until the first wave of bans hits. Then after that's done with they can tout their 'brand new' hack as undetected and sell it to all the kids who want to win a few games. They probably still won't win that many games if their macro/micro is bad. Then, blizzards anti cheat logs their use and eventually they have to go to mommy and daddy asking for money for a new copy of starcraft because the second wave hit. And those losses, who cares? Ladder isn't the end of the world. What matters are the tournaments, which you can easily check the replays and most of the major tourneys will be played in person.
