Only problem is if you don't have 1 queen per hatchery, then they will move around in quite a random manner and messing up
sorry for double post BUT
i know what you mean, like one from a far away expo (say the gold on desert oasis) will try to come to the main, but if you see it, just bring her back and you should be ok
also, make sure all the queens are in one control group, or else this will happen EVERY time you try the shift-backspace method

if you miss using the minimap it just wont function till you get a correct click - this is the best method for when your number of queens are not equal to the number of hatcheries you have, assuming you have solid mouse accuracy. Minimap is definitely the most flexible. If equal number of queens and hatcheries, the shift-backspace is much faster

I personally don't have this problem because I inject a different way and feel that perhaps many people do not simply know about this useful trick.
It's simple, really. I park each queen by their respective hatchery, hotkey them all into the same command group and use inject larva, but click on the hatchery on the minimap. This causes the closest queen (parked right beside) to inject on that hatchery. Normally, all queens would move to inject BUT since the injection goes off so fast, no one moves. This allows you to inject hotkey, click on map, inject hotkey, click on map, ad infinitum (or however many hatcheries you have).
I know it's not an amazing discovery, but I figured I'd share this just in case someone who may want to use this simply doesn't know about it.
I don't like this because if one of my queens die and i don't notice it. another queen will go all the way over there when I inject larvae.

Slightly off-topic... I think spawn larvae is one of the worst things about Zerg. I think it heavily penalises mediocre players. There's a number of ways this could be fixed without buffing pro players too much:
1. Unlimited simultaneous spawn larvae, stops you from "losing" larvae by forgetting.
or
2. Have a hatchery tech which increases number of hatchery larvae from 3 to 5 maximum.
or
3. Reduce spawn larvae time. At the moment, 25 energy takes the same time as a spawn larvae. If it was slightly quicker, then you'd be able to recouperate your losses from missing an injection.

If you use the backspace method you should bind your queens to 0 because it's the closest hotkey to backspace
|
hmm never thought of 0....thx :D
actually on my keyboard to use ` as backspace....seems good...because i use the radar click method
|
On a separate note, what is the best way to figure when it's time to re-inject?
I'm having a real hard time putting SL in my mental checklist.
|
Seems decent way of doing it but I'd worry about hatches being too small on the map or not having the consistency of just pressing the same button over again, but it's all about personal preference, so it's cool people are looking at alternative ways of doing stuff.

shift + backspace is very good
When we will be able to rebind backspace it would be: awesome.
|
I have backspace bound to my mouse which makes injecting very easy. First I only had backspace in mouse4 but then I realized if I bind left click to mouse 5 I can inject by only using my thumb.
So first I press shift+V then spam mouse 4 and 5 rapidly. + Show Spoiler +

Ah... very nice. I usually leave my larva queens near my hatcheries and hotkey only the hatcheries. But it gets tedious after a while to select the queens one by one and spawn larva on each hatchery. Especially after you get like 4ish expansions. Thanks. That was really helpful info.

I've tried both and I find using minimap significantly advantageous over backspace.
Apart from the fact I can actually do it faster with minimap, I also do not need to move hand at all (unless you do what BadBinky does and rebind) and I do not need to change my camera. This is very important as it allows me to completely keep up with my spawning larvae during a fight without losing sight of what is going on. It only takes a split second to accidently have your army walk into a tank line...

There was a thread on this not too long ago, should have used search function.
Anyway, I think IdrA's method is the best. It never fucks up and it is easy to move around the map.
Hatches on 4 and each queen on 5-7

i dont play zerg except for random, but it's already really fast to 55V """ """ """ imo.
