Just a quick note... I know I have seen many zerg complain about having to move their screen away from the action to inject larva. I personally don't have this problem because I inject a different way and feel that perhaps many people do not simply know about this useful trick.
It's simple, really. I park each queen by their respective hatchery, hotkey them all into the same command group and use inject larva, but click on the hatchery on the minimap. This causes the closest queen (parked right beside) to inject on that hatchery. Normally, all queens would move to inject BUT since the injection goes off so fast, no one moves. This allows you to inject hotkey, click on map, inject hotkey, click on map, ad infinitum (or however many hatcheries you have).
I know it's not an amazing discovery, but I figured I'd share this just in case someone who may want to use this simply doesn't know about it.

I knew about this fact long time ago, but it never hurts to keep reminding ourselves that there are easier ways to do things like larva injection without going like 55+click queen+v+left click hatchery, 66+click queen+v+left click hatchery, 77+click queen+v+left click hatchery.

why dont u use shift? why use the hotkey each time?
EDIT: there is also a backspace way of doing it
|
Well you can use shift if you want, it's just an oversight by myself. I prefer hitting each hotkey as a confirmation to myself that the command is actually going to go through. Besides it only takes maybe half a second longer.

just switched to zerg, was looking for something like this. i knew there was a faster way.

Can you remind us how that works? Thanks.
EDIT: I should look it up on YouTube. :/

Yup, this is the best way to do it, not a whole lot harder then the wireframe casting blizz removed. It's still an absolute pain to keep injects regular though...

Use PsyStarcraft's method...it's baller. Hotkey all hatcheries to 4. Then hotkey combinations of queen+hatch to 5, 6, 7, 8. Your first queen and hatch will be 5, second queen and second hatch will be 6, etc.
When you hit 4 you can set all rally points and select all of your larva at once. To inject larva just double tap 5, v, click..double tap 6, v, click, double tap 7, v, click. This also allows you to press tab to 'flip over' to the hatchery abilities and select them one by one in case you need to. Very good way of doing things.

too risky. what if the previous larva hasnt popped yet? So i click minimap super fast 3 times and i expect it to cast but in reality it doesnt. id rather see it. sure you can say as long as the queen has 25 mana then its ready, but in reality that is a risky measure and assumes you are on point with ur spawns all game which is rare.
plus what happens if u dont click exactly on the hatch on the minimap?

nothing will happen because it can only be casted on hatches or rather you cant even click it same way with chronoboost only that ir works on all buildings (not the pylon ofc.)

I don't even bind my queens, just hatchery, and they're only binded to create units.
To move from hatchery to hatchery, i just use Backspace:
So, my process to inject larvas are: - backspace - select queen - v - left click on hatch for injection - repeat
It seems like a lot, but with high apm, one injection takes less then a second.

You'll have the grey crosshair, and it will only green up when you're hovering the hatchery. It takes very good aim, or at least non-shaky control, but it's super fast and you won't cast it if you miss the spot.
I've tried the backspace way and the screen moves too fast, sometimes a hatchery still hasnt popped its larva and I'll go through that which makes me go twice through every single hatch just to make sure they're all injected, I dont know. It's personal preference I suppose.
I clip on the mini map now, on beta I used to bind each queen/hatch combo to a hotkey and that was the easiest for me, but I feel that if I get my aim a little better the minimap way is probably the best.

i think someone posted a method during the beta which was pretty awesome. i cant find it anymore but i'll just write it out.
put all your queens into one control group.
-select queens. -press v for spawn larvae -press backspace (this will centre camera on a hatch) -press right shift and hold it down (with right thumb or index) -alternatively press left click and backspace to cycle through all your hatcheries and inject.
very very efficient method and with practice, i can now inject 6 hatcheries in around 2~3 seconds.

There was a thread a while back about a ridiculously easy way of doing it. I just put all of my queens on 5, and use this key sequence:
5 v backspace hold the right shit key (and while HOLDING shift) click on hatch backspace click on hatch backspace repeat until all hatches have injection.
once you get fluid with this, you can inject many hatches in about 2 seconds. The only problem with this is that you need to have a queen at every hatch or else the queens will bug out and run all across the map, so when expanding you need to build the extra queen in advance so you can continue this trick.
edit: telcontar beat me to it ^^

Hmm you know I already do hatcheries on 5 and queens on 6+, but I think I may just try this out. Having the hatcheries individually selectable like that seems awesome.
Queen-backspace method kinda blows if you're on 3 hatch 2 queen or something. My mouse is too sensitive for me to really get minimap casting going at a rate faster than 66v77v88v.

I like to do the conventional method aka binding hatches to numbers and then double tap the respective key, select the queen and inject.
This is because I like to see whats happening at the hatches. I want to know how many drones are mining, how many larvae I have there and If someone drops me I can switch to the corresponding hatches quite fast. This way I can keep a view at saturation and situation at my hatches everytime I inject larvae. I don't mind that it is not the fastest way to do it.
It's a matter of style though and I like to have 100% control with my binds and controlgroups and I feel this is how I can achieve that the best.

omg. dude, i just tried it! best trick ever. injected 9 hatcheries in 2+/- seconds.

Everything is all preference. I personally prefer the minimap technique because I have superior mouse control. If I need to see what is going on with my hatcheries, I look manually (backspace or otherwise).

Unfortunately this doesn't work for me as I have rather small hands.

lol as a Terran player, I haven't played zerg more than 3 times but its crazy to see how many dif ways you can do spawn larvae

This is how I do it, very fast, easy to select single hatcheries for certain units at certain places, and 4 for mass production.
I tried the backspace trick but that key is just way the hell out if no man's land, it's too awkward. Sure you can rebind it somewhere else but that's not going to be allowed in any tournaments or anything since you can't change the hotkeys.
