I'm a diamond level terran player, and i find that 80-90% of the time against zerg they try to baneling bust, fail, and then complain about terran being OP.
Honestly, it's VERY easy for terran to stop a bust..
As T, you scout, if they arent expanding, and have gas/spawning pool they are most likely doing a BLB. If they are, then simply bunker behind your supply depots, this way you have two layers of structure that the zerg needs to get through, if there is still a hole, fill it... ^_^ Sometimes I even float my factory over/build it as a part of my wall.(BTW i do mech against zerg, like everyone should) If this baneling bust fails (which it will), salvage your bunkers, the zerg will most likely try to tech to mutas to harass you, by this time you should have 2 thors up. Get an engi bay and turret up your minerals and gg push the zerg. (you should have approx. 8 marines, 2 tanks and 2 thors). While you are doing this push, your CC should be landing in your natural.
Now, why is it that EVERY zerg i play against trys an all in BLB? I know a lot of zerg players are complaining about zvt being imbalanced, but honestly BLB does not work, so stop trying.
Really curious what the forum has to say about why BLB is so popular, especially the zerg's perspective whether it is regarding BLB, balance issues or whatever. I might just be crazy or something and you guys will be all like "those are just noob zergs", but legitimately 80-90% of zerg will try to BLB. But tbh, I find zerg to be a push over as a mech based terran player.

Ive actually won alot of matches where I zerg/muta rush and the terran is like...wheres the baneling bust? I love dimaga for each and every one of those wins (that I didnt intend to be cheesy)

Because for a lot of frustrated zerg players, early all-ins seem like a better option than playing a drawn out game (with what feels like an inevitable result) against a meching/turtling terran?
|
I'm going to die in mid game, so the only alternative left for me is to win before it gets to that point against Terran.
|
lol, BLB do workssss! most of the time in platinum.... (never loose to it, i think)
|
As a zerg player my response to you is that often times the BLB isn't all in. All in BLBs have specific timings and caps on the number of banelings and zerglings. If anything blame the number of wall busts on terran's various ways to harass. I mean you guys have tank drops on high ground, thor drops, viking harass, reapers, bunker rushes (which don't even cost you guys the minerals for the bunker). I've seen terran players try all of these in a single game. The only way zerg can really get back at you after a serious harass is to try to do some return economic harass. The only way to do that is to bust down that supply depot wall.
|
Because they suck. A zerg that baneling busts every game should just switch to terran. They have so many more all-in options.
Think of it from the zergs perspective. I'm sure these players are kind of frustrated because 80-90% of the time, terran will be the one doing some one base all-in. Except T has a ton more options to choose from then just baneling busting.
|
It is probably because your wall looks like it invites a baneling bust.
I rarely go banelings unless a) there's reactor barracks down, or b) your wall invites it. If you have barracks and two supply depots, and at least a few marines, and you haven't attacked in a timely manner, I might go for it just in case it works. Worst case scenario, I delay you a bit and give myself some time to tech up.
The alternative is to wait for you to build a bunch of seige tanks and push out and then it becomes a serious problem.
So what is your style of wall in?

This is correct. The ZvT midgame is so tremendously imbalanced that it is not worth the headache for most Zerg players. You'd be ignorant to think otherwise.

Yeah I have to say baneling busts in diamond seem to be ineffective. I've only lost 1/10ish games haing that done to me and I was playing very sloppy.

Nailed it.
Even if the BLB failed you ended the game quick and can move on to the next one without the 40 minute headache of bashing your head against tank/thor/viking.

terran mech army is SO immobile and zerg armies are RIDICULOUSLY mobile. Why don't you try some roach burrow play, nydus worm, infestor mind control, expand and tech to ultras or something like that?
|
baneling busts are also really popular PvZ, and its just seriously...REALLY!? 2-3 sentries and 1 colossus or 2 stalkers and its shut down completely! and then the toss can potentially counterattack and just win the game outright! (my 3 sentry robo expand build just rapes it ^____^ so im cool with it...now) imo its just a little all-in trick that toss technically cant scout unless he gets really really lucky...then if you fast expanded...its not even allin and you get mutas almost instantly!!!! and just win the game...cuz they needed stuff to defend against zerglings and banelings they get coloxin which eat up their gas and they dont get as many stalkers/sentries so the mutas can just demolish the toss! however that would be stronger imo w/o the baneling bust...seriously if your against some1 who can hold it off (even if he doesnt "know" its coming) its just useless to do damage
my 2 cents

The real question is why dont the players suggesting this crap try it. Then we wont have a million posts all over TL asking zergs to try stuff that has been tried and failed a hundred times.
Also why do people think the zerg is so mobile? Zerglings are mobile and that is about it. Creep tumors are the only thing that provides mobility and if you push with 1 raven the entire work of a zerg's highway is ruined. Or if you were smart and used scan to destroy tumors when you harassed its increasingly difficult. Sure zerg is more mobile than thors, but by the time you push out with thors you don't need to do anything but go wreck the zerg base. Just leave a few tanks turrets back at your base and enjoy the win.

because banelings are gona be used anyways to blow up infantry.

Probably cause they won't work. Burrow, nydus and mind control all rely on your opponent being bad. In fact the only offensive build Zerg can do is mutas, which will naturally completely get shutdown once he has thors and turrets. So yeah, I prefer to lose in 10 mins instead of 30, so all in banelings is the obvious choice.
|
Because if a Zerg wants to apply early pressure in TvZ it's either a Baneling Bust or going all-in with Roaches.

I would love a game to go to 30 minutes. The problem is that these small ass maps don't leave zerg players much room to macro. It's always a short walk distance even in 4 player maps and the match ends within 15 minutes. The only map I've been having success against Terran players is Desert Oasis despite all the bullshit drops and harassment.
