Greetings TL,
The Elitists is a Starcraft 2 interview show, bringing you the newsmakers and learning more about the greats and their insight into current events in the community. There is also a news show that will be short, and give you a weekly glance at recent events and notable plays of the last week as well as upcoming tournaments and where to find them.

Schedule:
Since my focus is on getting the best interviews and not wanting to sacrifice a good guest to make a schedule, I will not be able to keep a very perfect stable show schedule for the live event. I will use this thread to give updates on when the next guest will be coming on to give you forewarning. I will however release the show in MP3 format by Tuesday at midnight EST

The name is one of those things that harckons back to the old incarnation of the show, and with the established site I decided to just keep the name instead of revamp the whole structure of the site and stuff to make a more appropriate name.

I'm having the same problem, some other people have listened to the whole interview however, so it might be something like browser or connection. Either way if it is the file I should have it available as an MP3 on Tuesday

Regarding Rise, I really like watching him commentating. It's like a friend to watch your games with.

Really enjoyed the interview with TLO. Some cool questions. I liked the stuff about Supreme Commander. I wanted to try it when it was released but I never found the time.

UNFORTUNATELY LIVESTREAM HAS PAYED EXTRA ATTENTION IN THEIR ARSEHOLE LESSONS THIS WEEK AND WON'T STAY CONNECTED LONGER THAN 15 SECONDS. So I'll have to broadcast the interview post recording this week, very sorry.

ok on the name of the show and the fact that I interviewed commentators.
The name has nothing to do with the content of the show, its actually a throwback to a show I ran before this show that I don't feel too much getting into.
I wanted this show to be an interview with the people involved in the creation of the community. That does involve players, but Husky and HD ran the largest prize pool tournament of the entire beta and Rise is a commentator very close to the best American players and both are very great guys, worthy of support and with insight into the stuff that happens no less legitimate.

Lol i just finished listening to TLO interview, he is a tough conversationalist. There was just so many awkward pauses and frustration from Tristan, made my day >_<
Anyway looking forward for some more interviews with the Liqduids. I joined TL only recently due to sc2, and im sure that there are a ton of people that did just the same. So i think that interviewing some iconic people of TL like Nazgul would be quite interesting for for most of us.

I'm still trying to catch up with all of these interviews now, but I enjoyed the few i've heard so far, including the most recent with orb in which I was one of eight live viewers >.<
I actually found your podcast on itunes a few months ago and listened to a few episodes then before you did this show, but I have to saw that I've been enjoying these new interviews a lot more than the general discussions you did before. Good work, and certainly looking forward to the Artosis interview.

Personally, i don't think Rise, HD or Husky measure up to moletrap, diggity, klazart (yes i said it), Cholera or tasteless. At least not yet. They have long ways to go and sometimes they still demonstrate that they don't understand the strategy as well as others.

No worries, mate. I do appreciate the attempt.
It's not like your show is lacking any famous personalities anyway. So far everyone you've talked to made me go "wow! that's a big name!"

seems that there will not be a show tonight. I'm not sure how to fix this, but 2 major technical issues are making me want to murder kittens.
1. Irfanview for the overlay will randomly crash my computer when I try to adjust the picture
2. ustream will randomly tell me FME has crashed when it's running fine.
Irfanview's forums are down and the issue with FME has no solution I can find so until those are soled I will have to stall this show.

Great work on these, loved the Day9 and Orb interviews, your style as an interviewer is improving in leaps and bounds with each one, with a lot less awkwardness and more flowing conversation, I'm looking forward to hearing Artosis.

meh, no one gets popular overnight, I say after 6 weeks averaging about 700 downloads a week and 200 subscribers is a pretty good start. I have considered buying a TL ad or something but not sure. I would rather become popular through consistently good interviews and getting word of mouth following. You guys have been great and the feedback I've been getting for the show has been overall very positive so I am very excited to keep it going.
Also I found out TLO listens to every episode which is just baller as hell.

After listening to the day interview, I gotta say that was pretty good. Downloading the others now to listen to while I code. This is certainly better than I expected it to be at first glance. Good job.

I also think Artosis was talking about the 17173 world cup (which he said was 17178) instead of the 178 Asia vs EU showmatch. Yeah, I don't get the naming strategy.

Just keep doing what you're doing, it'll catch on. The only criticism I'd give is that you should try to sound a little more confident (which will probably just come over time) and be a little more direct in your asides. Like when talking about the South Korean boat that was sunk, you kinda beat around the bush for a little while and it didn't really accomplish much except eat up some time.
Even so I love the interviews, they're really insightful and your questions are really well done. I'd say that's your strongest point right now, you just ask great questions.

Cholera, Rise, and Diggity never fail to entertain while bringing their knowledge to the masses.
Klazart clearly has quite the repertoire of games in his head (he can remember x game played y seasons ago vividly) but is not entertaining because of how he believes his input is more valuable then the others'; that's why he hogs the mike.
Moletrap is hit-and-miss; he clearly knows StarCraft, but often has difficulty analyzing the way the others can.

There's a lot of moments in your interviews (especially when you're first introducing your guest) that you sound incredibly nervous/awkward. It's kind of painful to listen to those parts. Otherwise the content is pretty good.

The interview with Machine is done, unfortunately, I got a love letter from TL informing me that ustream crapped out on me during the stream and it wasn't live, ill wait a few hours and broadcast the recording live tonight, but either way it was a good talk and at the end since I ran out of talking points it got a little ad lib which was actually where some really fun questions came out.
Again it will be up as an MP3 and on blip on Tuesday so definitely look forward to that and I'm very sorry to the people who tried to listen live.

Personally I like using youtube coz I can subscribe to users that I like and then not have to check forums for the stuff but its w/e.
Also I like getting it asap.

This stuff is great and all the players and commentators that are interviewed are of the highest quality of gamers for SC2 and all other games. I can't wait for more.

a large portion of the HuK interview is inaudible because of the music overpowering the conversation. I would suggest completely removing the music from the interview portions of your show, it's unnecessary.

Hey man, love the show. Your interview style is really laid back and you seem to keep everyone very comfortable and chatty. I have to echo what others have said about the music though...I listened to the entire Huk interview until the music started overpowering everything--very unncessary for an interview show in my opinion.
I'd definitely recommend getting your stuff on YouTube. YT is where "the masses" will be showing up to find SC2 content, so having your stuff there can only help you. Plus, you've got an instant subscribe here!

thanks for pointing that out, ill go have another look at the music bed track.
I do keep the background music for tons of reasons relating to editing. Specifically because neither myself or my guests are in studios or using $1000 microphones or a decent EQ or even Protools . I got some tricks to try and fix it. I think I got the problem identified and I'll fix it momentarily.
As for Youtube I will start soon, but I have to wait until none of the 5 people who live in this house are using the internet.

most of the time its fine. When I don't compress the music track the volume of each song individually can be a bit of a pain in the but. Also audacity has no fader automation so I have to compress booo!

Just heard a few of your interviews in a row. I have to say that you do a really amazing job and asked some question that I really wanted to know. You have a really nice interview style and are able to establish great rapport with your guests. Keep up the good work!

Still waiting to hear from PainUser, SLush interview is up! Do keep in mind SLush isn't used to interviews, English is his second language, and we recorded it in the middle of the night. BE KIND!

These interviews are fantastic. They're destined to catch on in time. Interest in the proscene probably hasn't quite hit it's peak, considering it's still the beta and all :p
My only complaints: Is there some very quiet looping music going on throughout the interviews? Maybe I was just imagining it but it was irking me. I also thought there was a pattern where you'd relate something to yourself, which was fine, but then it'd get kind of thrown back to your interviewee to comment on and allow for some awkward moments.
Artosises' bitterness/snobbery was not endearing. TLO on the other hand came off as a very down to earth, humble guy and is probably my new favorite SC2 player.

Props for the great interview series!
I tried to make a favourable review for iTunes on my iPhone but it didn't work, for some reason...
My only complaint, apart from the occasional awkward question/moment, is that there is often a big difference in volume between the interviewer and the interviewee. In the latest episode, I kept having to turn up the volume for each question and then down again for each answer.

LZ Gamer interview is in the can, going to try to have the MP3 good to go for tomorrow. In about an hour or so I will upload some new shows on youtube (I forgot 2 parts of the Day 9 interview and I got a bunch more). ATM I am really busy with bartending school, but I am still staying on top of things BUT I have a plan for a new news show after retail comes out next week of a once a week short broadcast where you can get the scoop of awesome plays from the previous week, the tournaments and games coming up next week, and where you can go to watch them. Think of it like Starcraft Weekly with Artosis except I'll actually keep doing it and it will likely be audio as I don't want to subject you all to my ugly face.

SO CLOSE! To celebrate SC2's release I am opening with the pilot of a second show to also run weekly every Monday giving you a quick update on what last week's best games were, what events happened, and finally what tournaments and games this week are coming up as well as where to watch them. I hope people find this exciting and help you find all the tasty tournaments you could hope to find. (ugh, I think im just going to stop updating this soon =\ I are unloved)

E: I love the show and wouldn't stop it unless like noone was listening which the numbers say is not happening, dont worry about that at all. Awesome interviews still to come.

Well, I should take the time to mention that if there's people you want me to try and talk to just gimme a shout and I will seek them out. Keep in mind though there are a lot of Starcraft pros who dont speak english.
Some updates on interviews:
Jinro got back to me and in a few weeks when he is nice and settled in Korea I will try to organize an interview with him.
Painuser has gotten back to me as well and we can work on a time with him as well.
