But how do we then differentiate those who are actually generous from those just trying to look good for the community? i think a lot of people opting out are hoping for that^^

It's not a demand, it's a nomination. If your efforts go unnoticed, there's no shame in reminding people your contributions. Bad analogy. If no one wins this contest, the beta keys are not lost, they will be given out in a better manner. It's fun having to re-explain things over and over, eh? Yep, I'll drill it into their heads if I have to. :D - Cheree Investor in People

In that sense, though, they might still be looking out for their personal gain in the end anyway. ![]() Still <3ing you all that did so sincerely though. ![]()

Iv had this TL account since '03 but I'm not the bigges forum poster...obviously. Speaking for myself, which I think goes for a lot of other people in the SC community that are on TL.net 24/7, reading liquipedia, following calendar events, strats... Just getting their fixes from the local SC drugdealer, TL, who we love so dearly.I'm on the site all day! I myself am writing this from work, from my iPhone... Just because someone doesn't have 10k posts or is well known doesn't mean they are not members of the community. How mean to say so ![]() which brings me to my next point... I should really get back out into the plant where I inspect the quality and safety of vegetables you and Your families are consuming... All the more reason to give me a key. I can see it now: "Food inspector let's e-coli hit the shelves, reason: he didn't get a Starcraft 2 beta key from TeamLiquid.net" ... No i'd never do that ![]() honestly regardless of join date if you dont contribute on this site in some way or another you're a leech. And im saying this because i am a leech myself. You're taking everything with nothing in return. Even saying thank you to contributors is helpful. If you ask some of the contributors and ask them why they stream, translate, etc they'll answer i do it for the people that say thanks.

What if they aren't SC2 Beta keys? Maybe they are bet keys for Super Monster Zombie Mash up Killer : EXTREME edition.

For those nerds who are like: "What?", American Football is an R-Sport. R meaning "real". Ok so you have the coach saying "Okay we only have a few spots left, tell us why you deserve them and it's yours. Anybody can speak up". You have Leroy Jackson and Chuck Thikstake who have been to every practice and have stayed afterward to help others with working out/going over plays who think they deserve it because they are very loyal and dedicated. Then you have Maxwell Bigshot who just moved to your city and used to be the best player for his team, the Gosu Gamedogs. He thinks he deserves it for whatever reason. He is no more extraordinary than Leroy or Chuck in terms of physical prowess or athletic ability but everybody still thinks that Maxwell is a dickhead because he hasn't done shit as far as their concerned. In this analogy the spot on the team is perhaps the beta key. Leroy and Chuck are the regular and loyal forum contributes and Maxwell is the average 25 casual user. The stupidest person in this analogy is the coach for not putting ANYONE on because neither of the three candidates will step down. What should be done is this, the coach should say "Ok Maxwell, we admire your fire, but I can't put you on cause we have both Leroy and Chuck who have invested so much in this team already. It wouldn't be fair to them." If you call Maxwell a dickhead, you're basically driving him away from the team for no good reason as well as sending a message to all new recruits that they're sacks of shit until they prove themselves to the team. He just wants to play, there's nothing wrong with that.

You could've at least selected some more users that are great contributors(like in the news post) instead of doing this. Now that I realize whats happening for real I just wish I hadn't nominated myself at all. -.- I'm starting to wonder why I should trust TL's staff at all anymore. edit: edited for change of meaning. Why do you think all the keys from the nomination thread are being used in this contest?

Nah, they're just trying to extract as much amusement from the keys as possible while giving them away. Good entertainment for the rest of us.

They should have just said that you can't nominate yourself instead of "and yes, you can nominate yourself". everyone has a right to nominate his or her self. it's a matter of personal discretion whether or not one should. (pretending that all these people don't have keys, some do and some don't) if people like fuddx, kau, xeris, last romantic, ilikestarcraft, konadora, alffla etc nominated themselves do you think there would be any objection? (*edit* just realized that almost all of those people i listed have gigantic post counts, but the same would hold true if they only had 500 posts but there were still contributors to TL)
