Let me start by saying I have been lurking here for about two months or so and I have been playing the beta on a friends account for about three weeks. I am currently in the silver division with a slightly above 500 record (43-41 or something like that), and I love playing and learning about SC2. I also love watching Day 9’s show as well as other streams, especially orb’s (I play Protoss). This site is truly an amazing one; I have learned so much from simply reading the threads here, but this really bothers me. Here is orb, undoubtedly one of the better Protoss in the US, offering to help lower level players like myself get better and truly break that plateau and become a “good” player. After reading the comments on this thread, it honestly pissed me off that people would insult orb like this. Sure, he rages pretty hard, but who can honestly say they don’t get upset when they lose? Especially when someone goes mass speedlings or some other cheese type build. Some people have said that they watch orb’s stream simply to hear him rage, which is definitely not the case. If this is the case, you really need to reassess your life and find a better use of your time then to watch someone because they get mad. Perhaps players need someone like orb to get so mad and curse and whatnot, perhaps orb’s rage helps to alleviate and almost make fun of the times when we get pissed at ourselves while playing. I know there have been countless times where I have been cursing at my computer after losing then I think back to orb and realize that, “hey, if your not getting mad at some point, your really not trying to win, now just relax and think about what I can do to get better” Anyways the point of this post is twofold: First, please consider why orb streams his games, cause I can tell you it’s not to get money. I know I have learned soooo much from just watching him play. Second, try to realize exactly what your saying [and why your saying it] when you make pointless, unconstructive comments like “I forsee (which isn’t even a word) epic crash and burn…” or out of nowhere insulting someone like Storrzerg. Thanks TL, thanks Day9, and thanks orb, I’ll be watching your show.

The issue most people have with orb isn't that he gets upset over a game. i believe a lot of people aren't particularly fond of orb because he can be blatantly insulting to people for no good reason.

However, the fact remains that he is taking his time to help lower level players out and I don't think that calls for the types of responses that have been posted. People don't have to watch the show or orbs stream, they don't even have to like him. But I believe he is trying to do something good here and I think it would be foolish to make him regret it.

If you have an issue with orb demeanor, send him a civil PM about it. Flaming him because "he flames people" is just hypocrisy.

As I've said, I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I sincerely hope that this isn't some sort of "LOL letz bash noobbzzz" show. But we will see what happens, and as I said before, if he has pure intent with this show, then I will watch it, and wish him the best of luck. And if he does not, then I will have lost all respect for him.

IdrA is hugely popular not only for his mad skills but also thanks to his display of feelings which we can all relate to. We can't relate to IdrA on a human level though, he's living a life few of us can even imagine. Players like -orb- and ReSpOnSe are like our neighbors we never knew were playing - and they're willing to share. ReSpOnSe has a bitch ex girlfriend who he wants to marry, -orb-'s closest companionship is his stuffed companion cube. So what? Similar one-sentence shoot-downs could be applied to any single one of our anonymous asses had we been the ones putting our lives on display. -orb- - we love ya and we need ya - never stop streaming and never conform to plebeian standards of social conduct. You're better and you know it and you let your thousand viewers hear it. Boss.
