Would SC1 maps be viable in SC2?

With a hint from the podcast there is a slight chance of seeing the map editor during the final stretch of beta. With that being said what maps would people like to see made?

Things like Python, Destination, Tau Cross, other classics and such will appear, but would the maps function in any way similar to their sc1 counterparts?

Also please add on maps you might love that aren't as mainstream.

not python. please not python, we have lt, thats fine.

destination is a map i feel that really emphasizes positional play, and with sc2 in the state its in now, i dont feel like it'd be the perfect map for that. something like hbr or katrina with all the cliffs around the center, however, is a much different matter. in that reapers, colossi, whatever will all be much more useful in actual combat.

tau cross's bridges are universal barriers (except with air units, ofc). thats an idea that could be very interesting, maybe grass on either side of the bridges? theres also expos which i would expect to turn high-yield.

maps in general would play out nothing like their sc1 counterparts with the possible exception of outsider, considering how heavily that map emphasizes mobility already.

A buddy and I were discussing this the other day, and the subject Monty Hall came up, and how with a bit of tweaking would probably be pretty ridiculous and fun seeing how mobile the units in SC2 are.

yea unfortunately i have to agree destination may not be the best at the moment, though i could only imagine swarms of zerg units flooding across the bridges with colossi on the other side.
Nothing but a worthless waste of breath.

Im definitely going to toy around with the editor a ton, and I plan on remaking:

1. Outsider
2. Heartbreak Ridge
3. Bluestorm
4. Matchpoint
5. Destination

and of course my own original maps, I already have some designs underway so it should be nice xD

colored text hurts my eyes >.<


fs is kinda boring for a sc2 map, but that might be a good thing. stash towers on the left and right of the mid expo, make it high yield with 4x geysers.

I would love to see a solid re-creation of the Warcraft 2 map... "Garden of War"! I think it was done in Wc3 but it was not nearly as popular. I remember some ice map being very popular for WC2 as well.
