Why are Nerazim immune to hyperevolutionary virus

Why are the Nerazim immune to the Hyper Evolutionary VIrus. The Dark Templar unlike the khalai do not follow the khala yet their infestation has never been documented despite many of them falling to the zerg in battle.

Does the power of the void protect them? I know that the void is what let them slay the cerebrates and when combined with the khala let tassadar kill the overmind so that would make sense. However this is never stated. Did blizzard forget or is just implied? They don't wear protective suits like terrans do so that doesn't explain it either.

I guess it is just implied that the energies that allow them to kill cerebrates and such is able to keep the infestation from affecting them. Maybe LotV will have a definitive answer, but for now I guess you can just assume this to be truth.

Maybe they are still in thouch with the khala even though they don't follow it? All Nerazim used to come from aiur and most likely followed the khala back then. They could easily still be using some of that knowledge.

The following is only a spoiler if you didn't play sc/bw+ Show Spoiler +
Wait, I thought that (I forgot her name) the matriach of the Dark Templar, and the Templar who is in charge of you in sc/bw both get infested?

I'm no lore-hero though, so forgive me if you are all talking about some different kind of infestation

I'm fairly sure Raszagal was not infested, only manipulated. Kerrigan used her psionic powers to bind the Matriarch to her will, brainwashing the Dark Templar leader. Kerrigan's control over her was of the mind, not infestation.

I don't think so, the reason why they were ostracized is because they (and their descendents) never chose to follow to khala after the Aion of Strife. The feared losing their independence and many of them sever their psionic tendrils to exclude themselves from the khala.

If by "the templar who was in charge of you" you mean Aldaris, then no, he was never infested nor anything like that. He was right, though.

regular protoss have dreads at the back of their heads that contain some stuff that connects them to the Khala. the Dark templar severed those dreads and became outcasts. if im not totally mistaken.

I think that within the lore, it's stated that all protoss are immune to infestation. Dark templar, being genetically similar to the Aiur protoss, would therefore be immune to a virus that neither group had experienced before.

You just ignored all the lore explained in the thread and came up with your own explanation.... its not genetics its the khala that protects them.

This gives two explanations, a nano tech serum and the "fortitude of the khala," whatever that is. So two viable answers could be the "fortitude of the force of the void," or that they got a hold of that serum.

Ghost EMP makes them visible, Kerrigan was a ghost, hence Kerrigan could make them infestable?

I'd just like to note that Khalai are part of the caste system that all Protoss followed.

Khalai

What you said was kinda like saying The Swedes, unlike the carpenters, do not follow the religion but they've never documented infestation. It made no sense.

Finally, its mentioned that Protoss having purity of form, are uninfestable.

If I recall correctly, Protoss and Zerg share a common background, in that they both have ancestry with the Xel'naga. It's possible, though never directly explained, that this relationship could render them immune to the infestation.

Khalai are followers of the Khala, so dark templars/nerazhim are not Khalai.

Also the fact that the Protoss have purity of form is why they are SUPPOSED to be infestable, as that was the whole point of creating two races with corresponding perfectiong, and what prevents that is supposed to be their psionic unification through the Khala.

The real explanation for this inconsistency, of course, is that all of this lore was not thought out before-hand, and even now it's questionable whether it's all planned out even in the games. Even in the basic lore of the Protoss and Terran there's oddities, and it's best to just glaze over it. If you want a game with deep lore, play Warhammer 40k.

Khalai is the name of the worker class and also all protoss that follow the Khala it has two meanings. Purity of form like previously stated is what made the xel naga want to combine the protoss with a purity of essence race (like the zerg) so that would make them more infestable.

On the contrary, it could make the Protoss immune to the virus like STS said.

Except for that is wrong because the lore says its wrong. You guys are going against wahts already been established and derailing the thread. The reason why protoss aren't infestable is because of the khala, the Nerazim don't follow the khala and no expanation has been given as to why they don't get infested.

We need to clarify here. The Khala protects the Khalai Protoss from being assimilated and infested (assimilation is getting the genome of the species absorbed into the zerg gene pool, infestation meanwhile is just getting infected so the zerg can control but cannot reproduce the infected organism) by the Zerg.

In addition to the Khala, the protoss are naturally resistant to disease (the hyper-evolutionary virus included) that death by disease is rare. This is the reason why the Nerazim are immune even if they are not followers of the Khala.

This definition used to be the one used in Starcraft wiki a few years ago. Scroll down to 4th paragraph in 'physiology'.

The others are explained in the link in the OP.
