When he contacts Raynor on the ship we can tell he is badly wounded in some ways. After all he has been through one can assume it's normal, however the wound he sustained on his blade-arm was right after cutting one of Kerrigan's wings. We can see a Roach crawling by Kerrigan's side right after too, which makes 3 possible theories that I can think of :
1) When striking Kerrigan he came into contact with her "negative energies" or whatever you call it and her strenght is such that by inflicting a wound on her Zeratul wounded himself as well. Either that or he was too weakened after being "psi-gripped" and his arm "broke" from the strike.
2) The Roach surprised Zeratul when he attacked and hit his arm ?
3) Kerrigan actually counter-attacked but we didn't really see it ?
#1 seems most likely but I wanted to hear what you guys think and maybe someone has some official info on the subject ? I know it's not exactly the hottest plot-related thing to discuss but I was curious about it from the moment I first got the Prophecy missions

it wasnt a roach, it was a hydralisk.
i think his arm sustained damage from kerrigan's psionic attack. we knew from the story as well as single player missions that kerrigan does have very powerful psionic attacks. her regular attack 1 hit kills any marine :p

Its like in all animated fighting, the two fighters run towards each other we see a flash and they hit each other. Then they are both hurt but one of them is hurt to a lesser extent and is the winner. So #3.

1) there were no roaches in the cinematic. Only Hydralisks. 2)It is rather option number 3 - > proof -> in the "DEAL" cinematic u can see a flash of Kerrigan's and Zeratul's fight where QUeen of Blades is trying to kick him but prelate is blocking with his arm. I guess this was cut off from Prophercy cinematic or who knows

My impression was he broke his arm during the "psi-grip" but Nesh has a pretty good point. That scene may have been taken out for some reason.

Hehe well I know these were all hydralisks but upon close inspection the creature that crawls next to kerrigan seems to have the face of a Roach... I might be wrong tho
I will check the Deal cinematic again, must've missed that. Thanks.

I think those were Hunter Killers, not hydralisk per se (theyre Kerrigans extra super badass hydralisks)

I thought it was a Lurker :O

A bit of topic, but come to think of it, did we not see a single "new" zerg (or toss) unit in any of the cinematics? I don't recall seeing roaches, banelings, corruptors, infestors etc. anywhere. Did we even see any new terran units besides maybe the thor?

they probably did all the cinematics before finalizing the new zerg units

It's probably the cinematics that was only shown in the trailer where Zeratul was repelling zerg claws using his arm.
