You need games like that in a title run for sure, but isnt that a sign that they are pushing it already? Injuries are catching up to them I guess. Or was it just a bad game? Injuries are definitely catching up to us and without a true scoring threat in our starting lineup last game (Diaz didn't have the most impressive game), we can't rely on players like Gakpo and Elliott to drag across the line. We need one of Nunez, Salah, or Jota to have a reliable scorer game after game. Hell, I'd take Danns over Gakpo right now with the way that Gakpo is playing (been very poor lately). Also having to play Gomez at the 6 (which has looked awful both times now, against Soton and Forest), is really hurting our ability to play through our midfield. So thank god we got Endo back. I think as long as Szobo, Nunez, and Salah can remain health, and we don't suffer any more injuries, we have a team that can go the distance, but again it'll take a bit of luck for us to evade injuries and get some lucky results (like against Forest). And yes, both Sheffield teams suck right now. hehe.

I’d love to see it as a relative neutral but there’s still that spectre of City hitting top gear and winning 10+ games in the closing stretch that they’re always capable of doing. A lot depends on how the Liverpool game goes I guess. If Liverpool can cling on while they’re injury-ravaged, I can see the combo of getting those players back and the intangible ‘giving Klopp a glorious send-off’ carrying them to it. If City go deep in Europe again, I can see them prioritising that, even if subconsciously. Winning the league is borderline routine at this stage, winning another CL, and a back-to-back one puts them in unique territory with Real in the modern era on the latter. It’s finely poised and I could absolutely see any of the three do it, I think it’ll come down to fine margins, an injury here or there or how deep teams go in other comps. It might not harm Arsenal’s chances in the league if they go out prematurely in Europe for example.

Incidentally Bruno Fernandes has passed Ruud van Nistelrooy as United's highest penalty scorer with that one against Everton.

Their best ever finish was 3rd and they are doing it with a predominantly Kiwi squad. The A-League has a finals system though rather than top place wins, so there's time for them to choke yet. Incidentally Bruno Fernandes has passed Ruud van Nistelrooy as United's highest penalty scorer with that one against Everton. I lived just next to the Central Coast Mariners stadium last year. Is the A-league worth watching? I believe they won something last year but not sure how significant it was.

Also its irrelevant either way, all they needed to do was avoid defeat, if they win there next 10 games they will win the league as they will out score Arsenal and City will be given a right going over by Pep for that 2nd half performance to beat Arsenal at home.
