Quite similar to the English men's team run in Euro 2020, really.
The English media made it sound like a repeat of '66 was in the bag. And the FA hyping up the coach as Southgate's successor. All hype and hubris again!
The better team won, and thank goodness for that. England were missing about 5 players i swear lol, Spain all brought it on themselves, all the girls have fallen out with the coach and went on strike during or after the euros.....some came out of "retirement" to play for him again in this world cup but they all supposedly very unhappy with him.
England missing there captain cb williamson, missing fran kirby who is like lauren james quality, beth mead who was top scorer in euros i believe?
Spain deserved to win though, England played poorly and there set up was abysmally bad, tactics awful lol. Spain has the best players in Europe though with half the Barca team which is fantastic, so good they got success.

I thought it was a pretty terrible game. England didn't play well , there was a lot of flopping and diving from the spanish players which was disappointing to see. I personally think the referee had a poor game. Id say on balance spain deserved to win but it was a bad advertisement for womens football.

yep final was one of the worst games prolly

Chelsea.... a billion plus dollars spent, and despite laying the blame on Pulisic for your troubles; so you traded him for this guy....
West Ham won obviously.
|
Dont forget West Ham was down to 10men for over 30minutes
Also Ward-Prowse is such a good player, so happy he can use his full potential now
|
Did Chelsea or their fans blame Pulisic for all their problems? TBH I never heard a single instance of that, its more like they acted as though he didn't exist for most of his time there.

The better team won, and thank goodness for that. Do other media and fanbases not do this?
I’m sure there’s plenty of chat in Spain and its media proclaiming the achievement and the supremacy of the Spanish style of football or what have you.
The FA didn’t hype up Wiegman as a Southgate replacement, they got asked if she’d be considered in a press conference and said yes, because outright saying no would be a bad look.
I mean rare is it I’ll defend the media and English football public over charges of jingoism but they’re way more grounded than they used to be, and I doubt they’re in any way atypical.
It’s something of a golden age for English football, they may as well enjoy it.

Reality is he hit the ground running at Chelsea and was bloody good initially, niggling injuries lead to a loss of form and he never really recovered it.
Pity, actually do like his style a lot and think it would be good for the game for the US to have a true bona fide superstar but I think Pulisic will at best be an A tier player and not the S fans over there hope he becomes/think he is

wow that sucks. did he at least see them win before he died

Spain is such a train wreck and clown fiesta. Fighting inner demons. Unity after mutiny.
Their run would make such an epic Cinderella story worthy of a Netflix series, if it wasn't so dark.
Interesting to see how the team goes on after the WC. The coach seems unloved or even hated by most players (or maybe some side with him but just don't want to publicly show their support in respect of the Las 15?). Can any of our Spanish posters shed some more light or inside scoop?

Yeah, not ok. Such weird behaviour

Some players just don't have a style that works in the Premier League, no matter how awesome they are. Every time I watched a game with Pulisic on the pitch, he would try and take on too many players, make the wrong decision in the final third, or was lacking end product. I don't know why that is, because I don't think those things are necessarily a part of his game, but it could just be the pace of the Premier League.

Everything about this is disgusting and weird. His response when confronted about it. But I want to take advantage and say that those women are not paid enough. I don't think the men's team would cheer and jump around in joy about a free trip to Ibiza. I mean, I know emotions are high and they're on top of the world anyway, but a trip to Ibiza costs a few hundred Euros... let's say they go with the full VIP treatment and it costs a few thousand Euros. It should still be peanuts compared to what their income is if they get paid even 1/10 of what the men do.
|
Please, not that argument again. It's market value. As a % of revenue, women are already earning more: link. This is entertainment, not desk jobs. The best musicians in the world make crumbs compared to Nicki Minaj.
|
The lower revenue isn't the fault of the women because they are generating millions of views. It's sponsors who are not paying as well as for men but still receiving almost same amount of value
That's a joke
|
If you think sponsors derive the same amount of value from sponsering the women's world cup Vs the men you're delusional. The men world cup is the biggest sport event in the world and has been for decades. The women's WC does not even come close.
