Peps arrogance of not replacing aguero has bitten him in the ass Liverpool were able to rest players midweek whereas City had a brutal match against Atletico Madrid. That is why City were the worse team today.

Peps arrogance of not replacing aguero has bitten him in the ass Well the teams are pretty damn evenly matched, and I thought City were the better side last week and shaded that one, relatively narrowly.
I don’t think it’s arrogance, Pep wanted Kane, in the absence of a player of his characteristics, or a Haaland they don’t really need a centre forward.
For every occasional ‘they need a centre forward game’ there’s about 15 where City’s rotating cast of technical wingers/midfielders batter most teams.
It’s like when people say Trent is a bad defender and Liverpool could do with a more orthodox right back. It’s an intentional thing that gives them a weapon offensively and fits their overall gameplan, and pays off more often than not. Especially as, outside of Thiago Liverpool don’t really have a real scheming midfielder.

City were the better team at the Etihad and Liverpool was extremely lucky not to lose. Unlike city Liverpool could rest players during the week. City rotated yesterday while Liverpool played the undisputed first team. Based on this lots of people predicted this result - concerning the more important titles it might be a very different story.
No idea what you are smoking.

Both De Bruyne and Walker had some injury scares against Atletico. De Bruyne was on the bench on the FA Cup, Walker wasn't. How they'll recover is going to be a big factor in the remaining PL and UCL.

That's horrible to hear. I can't even imagine what they must be going through. I hope they can both recover from this

Ronaldo won't be playing against Liverpool due to his bereavement, per Man United website.
Sad stuff aside, this has to be a big opportunity for Marcus Rashford. No Ronaldo, no Cavani, no Greenwood, no Martial. Surely Rangnick has no choice other than to play him for the 90 mins. Could be the time to get himself back into form with a strong performance against a strong team.

People love to complain about Utd's defence, but I think the 1-0 is a bit unfortunate here. Pogba gets injured, Matic gets drawn to the side and that leaves Mane open in midfield. If Pogba plays that correct and marks Mane, it's probably nothing. Now Maguire gets drawn into Mane and it all falls apart.
Might still be trouble playing high line vs the Liverpool runners, but the Pogba injury didn't help one bit there.

Alex Ferguson looks sick watching this ManUtd side

Manchester United and Liverpool supporters united in a fan-led minute of applause at Anfield in support of Cristiano Ronaldo and his family following the death of his baby boy.
Liverpool fans sang their club's anthem 'You'll Never Walk Alone' in the seventh minute - Ronaldo's shirt number at United - of the league match.

This is so beautiful and unlike what the City supporters did at Wembley when they disturbed the Hillsborough silence

Did someone watch the game? Is Maguire as bad as everyone is joking or is that exaggerated?

Considering how atrocious United's midfield was, how little possession they had, how anonymous their forwards were and how Thiago just ran the show, the defence did a fair job at holding up under the circumstances. I wouldn't say he was a big reason they lost. He wasn't able to lead from the front to rescue things either though.
The first goal was partially his fault because he stepped out of the defensive line to press and left a gap but Pogba got injured just before and Maguire was trying to cover for him. The second goal was beautiful, most teams would have conceded. Goal 3 was Lindelof's fault and goal 4 was Hannibal's fault.

For me he was as bad. He gets caught constantly, doesn't check on opposing players and makes braindead moves. First goal was mostly his fault, that was a bad play and I think even he knows it. Agree on the second goal, Liverpool just outplayed us hard. If you think second goal is Lindelof's fault then fourth goal can't be Hannibal's. Regarding Maguire's role in that goal, he let Mane score a pretty easy one. He keeps his focus on the ball instead of player and gives him ample of space and time. Not entirely his fault, but that is bad defending. Maguire's reaction reagrding the fourth goal were comical. First he made a horrible, horrible pass, which leads to Hannibal losing the ball, and then he tried to set up an offside trap even though he can clearly see that Lindelof is behind him. Another option is that he maybe tried to press potential pass to Mane, but even then he would screw it up since he would be clearly late for that. I don't think he went to press since his reaction and body movement look similar to me of one setting offside trap, and he showed earlier in the game how he reacts when trying to press players.
This is just this game. You can find such examples in every United game where he costs the team points, be it in a form of injuring his teammates, making bone headed moves, or just scoring own goals. He is out of his depth, and the sooner he realizes that the better for him and the club.
