I did think it was a soft free kick (nowhere near as soft as the pen, mind). Shaw didn't wrestle him to the ground as much as he briefly grabbed his shirt in the middle of a big ol' melee of people grabbing and pushing. Not complaining though, we got even luckier, and that free kick was quality. | ||

If the team actually would play well without cheap tricks, the fans would behave like normal human beings (disgusting stuff with that young german girl in the stadium as only one example) more people would cheer for England. Not biased at all but plain facts. | ||

I can see why it was given but VAR should have made the ref look at it. I don't really get how people get from that to UEFA conspiracy though lol. | ||

The VAR should have intervened here because he clearly dived before even being touched. The "different angle" shows this quite well. I don't believe in a conspiracy but this is just awful refereeing. And it is also terrible uefa policy to not allow a VAR decision to overrule the ref on the field if there is any contact whatsoever. Why use VAR in the first place then? Only for offsides? | ||

It’s a little unedifying given the supposed British love of fair play, absolutely no arguments there. But I mean they’re far from alone there, the Italian extra time antics in the Austria were hardly the epitome of fair play, and I’m unsure why exactly UEFA would possibly conspire so that England of all countries could win a tournament. | ||

That's actually the positive side of the bad side of the English fans. Thanks for their actions in the past there are plenty of laws and rules which should make this easy.
