Very good match from Atleti. They had more shots on goal than Liverpool (Liverpool had 0 xD) and defended perfectly. Lodi was the best of the team. And the stadium atmosphere was Incredible.

I still think Liverpool will score several goals at Anfield. Atleti Will regret Morata missing that goal.

2-1 in an away game is by no means a disaster and gives you an away goal to play with in the next game. However, PSG are not playing well, simple as that and that is worrying about them...but Dortmund away form the last 2 games are high scoring defeats so that might not be good going to Paris vs that front 3.

That front 3 was useless tonight, sooooo. Tuchel failed hard tonight and had time to readjust but didn't... Very frustrating to watch. Also that front 3, if they don't make any effort in CL they're just useless. That's not how you win in this competition.

I mean... he did well but there was a defender there that whiffed harder than Moratta did. Thats not the kind of thing you draw up game plans to see happen. Thats just badness.

His point is that relying on teams being bad isnt really the formula. On paper that team should beat Dortmund home and away. On paper anyway. I honestly think Dortmund is really good. They have a problem of playing down to their opponents level which is a common problem for youngish teams.

For some reason I belive PSG as a team lacks of critical experience playing vs top tiers, simply because they don't have any rivalry in domestic competition in last several seasons. At this point EPL, LaLiga, Serie A and Bundesliga representatives are much more prepared for play-offs.

It’s probably a pretty big part of it for sure, I think to be a bit crude about it their squad lacks balls.

They’re good enough technically to generally get by, when it comes to playing teams who are of their level, or close to it they just consistently fail to deliver.

Contrast that with Athletico, where balls/cohones is such a big part of their identity that Simeone has grabbed his in celebration in the past. Even this season where they have been really underperforming they can grind out a result against Liverpool.

I think PSG have a problem in having two such superstars of the game too in Mbappe and Neymar. Incredible players sure, but makes things really wonky based on the league they’re in as well.

A Real Madrid or Barcelona are absolutely huge, so players tend to get with the program or get shipped out quickly.

The other nouveau riche team in Man City have a ton of quality but is there anyone of that ilk there? With City you get the impression that in a power play, Guardiola will come out on top. If Neymar or Mbappe say ‘it’s me or Tuchel’ as an ultimatum, who sees Tuchel surviving that?

Then you have the Ajax of last season, or the Dortmund of this season, where there’s a lot of young talent, but they’re hungry to establish their reputations and perhaps move to another club at some point.

PSG to me seem to be in an awkward spot where they have two legitimate superstars who’ve already made it, and have only the Champions League as a challenge for their abilities, but for whatever reason they’re not rising to that challenge.
