That's an absolute joke of a competition and waste of time for them. They tried quite hard to get knocked out of the League cup as well but Arsenal are just so bad it's not possible to lose to them. edit: they also have the biggest lead ever in the Premier League. They can lose like 3 games and still be way ahead. But Club world cup is a title liverpool never won. I am sure thats at least a bit attractive. And yeah with league cup they really tried to not advance haha It's probably a bit attractive, but then again people keep reminding that Liverpool has never won the Premier League either and that's one attractive title.

But i imagine at least the players take the tournament seriously enough to justify their huge salaries. Imagine losing to people who earn less than 1/10 as them.

Hoever is also recognizable from somewhere, no idea where. I checked out some of the early 0-0 and the Liverpool kids actually played well. Apparently there was also a lot of travelling fan support for the kids. From what I gather, it went really well for everyone considering the unfortunate circumstances.

I slightly fear a demolition by Liverpool and a lot of disappointment for our brothers in Brazil, but it should be a fun game to watch! That is pretty much what should happen, at least on paper EDIT: Market value is almost 10 times as much for Liverpool. It could be the big breakout game for some of Flamengos youngster like Reinier

51 54 55 57 67 68 72 75 77 99 These are the numbers on the back of the Liverpool team that played at Villa Park. I'm guessing squad numbers don't really go down that far and they are arbitrarily chosen as a joke by Klopp trying to imply this isn't even their 5th best team. But still the point is made. It also implies contrary to what I said that Liverpool care more about the 'Club World Cup' than I do.

edit: That wasn't well worded as a response to InFiNitY. Yes I agree with you. There is a financial element too. My initial post makes it sound like I am completely ignoring you and had the idea all myself rather than agree with you.

Yes Obviously it's good for smaller clubs, but is it good for Liverpool? Might be I underestimated the potential value for the club regarding the arabian and south american football market. It's still a week of traveling and risking injurys in a critical period. So you have to weigh losing one cup title and potentially the PL title (although unlikely) vs winning the cwc.

Yes It is important the other way around too. The European dominance in football in the past 20 years made possible to EU teams gain market share here in Brazil, it is not a huge market, but it is one for sure. Flamengo sold around 2.5 million shirts in 2018 (not counting pirate versions btw). I bet it doubled this year.
