I didn't watch the AZ game, but AZ has been pretty impressive this year, especially in the Eredivisie. They have a good group of talents who can peak in games but can also win the points in most games against weak opposition in the Eredivisie. They have a budget of around €25,5M. Feyenoord and PSV with budgets of 68M and 79M are trailing (source: https://www.vtbl.nl/nieuws/artikel/4798961/begrotingen-eredivisie-dit-zijn-de-budgetten-van-de-18-clubs Dutch site, but you can check out the budgets). The fact that they kept Manchester United at 0-0 at home and where they should've won based on xG stats etc., is actually impressive. Manchester United has a budget of what, 500M-600M? That's 20 times as much. 20. But let's not overrate the Eredivisie. Ajax has lost 7 points so far (first loss last weekend in an off-game and two draws: one vs PSV away, one was the first game of the season against Vitesse away), but usually turn on their try-hard mode in European competitions. The top teams can usually win against most teams with relative ease, so if AZ keeps their top level in the league, they will win most games. That's why they're only trailing 3 points. I expect that they'll fall off later in the season though. Problem with our teams is usually that the first 11 are good, but because of limited budgets, the bench is not adequate enough. That's partly the reason why Valencia (with lots of injuries themselves) could beat Ajax who were missing 2 first-team wingers (Neres, Promes) and the first one of the bench (Labyad) because of injuries. They were forced to put Ziyech as right-winger, essentially being forced to change a successful midfield, and put a youth player on the other wing, who was visibly nervous in the game against Valencia. Valencia's options as replacements for their injured players were better.

They were really lucky in several games in the group stages already, scoring very late goals. Their luck just ran out yesterday. I believe they are easily good enough to make top 4 in Bundesliga to qualify for CL, especially now when all the Thursday-games are gone. Still feels like a disgrace to not make it through that group as the 1st place team in the Bundesliga. Sadly that says something about the quality of the Bundesliga as well.

People from outside the UK might not know what Talksport is but now they do and you can listen to that outside the UK, so they can get more viewers this way. AFTV is as pure form of "analysis" and reaction you can get, asking a fan about the game after a defeat is always going to get knee jerk reactions, the same way it does when you do talk phone-ins on radio stations after games. All this beef is free advertising for each other xD

If they won those as they should have they'd have been first or 2nd (behind Leipzig). Bundesliga table is ridiculously close this season.

It's interesting to see whether United keeps on dropping points vs the bottom half teams. Everton could grab something from Old Trafford today. Edit: Spurs keep on scoring highlight reel stuff.
