Stewards found Norris to be responsible for the incident at the start, obviously, but only gave a reprimand and a small fine. There was no precedent set for this, sure, but I have been following F1 for a very long time and things like this usually got much harsher, sporting penalties but Lando didn't even get a penalty point. Charles however, got a higher fine for uttering a swear word. Ridiculous in itself of course but even more so because of it being a different penalty than Max got while he got his when there wasn't even a precedent set for such a violation. But the most egregious one of all, in my opinion, is the fact that a steward, who was stewarding the past 2 weekends btw, gave his opinions of a participant in a sport he is a referee for. This is just simply unacceptable. In any sport. | ||

Was it luck that the red flag in the qualifying was put out way too late so people could have finished rounds, taking Verstappen out of Q2? Genuine question, maybe I have misheard something or important parts were cut out. I just listened to the drivers interviews seen on the F1 youtube channel and what he said was not flattering anyone. "you take a gamble and its paid off for them. its not talent or you know, its just luck". | ||

If Lando was given a 10s penalty it wouldn't even have mattered but at least it would have set a better precedent. He didn't even get a single penalty point; How on earth is that even possible. | ||

I'm not sure I can recall a single time in the last decade at least? Combined with the fact that the warm up rounds tend to be well below even VSC pace, I don't think it was particularly dangerous. So for those reasons, I'm fine with it being a mild punishment. It being a milder punishment than uttering a cuss word, however, is absolutely bonkers ridiculous. FIA is an absolute kindergarten atm. | ||

There wasn't any precedent for exactly what happened but Lando basically ran a red light and historically there have been harsh penalties for situations involving ignoring lights or signs. Surely penalty points are always involved. This laughably light penalty just sets such a bad precedent. About the other topic being discussed I'll just leave this Vettel quote I came across somewhere else: "I think it’s not fair. I mean, I don’t know what Lewis did. We’ve all been in that situation, we fight someone, we go sometimes wheel-to-wheel, it’s close and you have a lot of adrenaline going. Do you think comparing to football, if you have a microphone on a football player’s mouth, that everything he says is something nice and is a nice message when the guy tackles him and maybe sometimes he fouls him or not? I don’t think it’s justified to give us these kind of s*** questions and making up a story out of nothing, if we are just racing and we are full of adrenaline and sometime we say these things." | ||
