We did the exact same thing this race lol, pop the Limitless chip and pick both Merc drivers/Charles/Max/Lando with Merc/RB as teams. That's so freaky.

I'm guessing they just really want to do it at night in Vegas because it will look cooler with the strip all lit up

I heard one of the organizers said it's so the Europeans can wake up and watch F1 with the morning cup of coffee. They could have made it noon local time, 3pm New York time, and 8/9pm Europe time. How is waking up at 7am to watch F1 better than watching it in primetime? The times are even better for the US than having it late at night. Are there a lot of fans in east Asia that their times work better for? Because otherwise I don't understand it. I'm guessing they just really want to do it at night in Vegas because it will look cooler with the strip all lit up I don't know the answer to that, but F1 times are generally catered to Europe indeed, if they can. Australia is one of the few races that they can't make happen outside of "the middle of the night" for Europe. There's every chance they simply wanted it to be a night race for aesthetic purposes. The city lighting up around the cars is likely to be a pretty cool spectacle. Once you've made it into a night race, the time is pretty much set. You can't have it earlier, as Europe wouldn't have woken up yet, and you can't have it later, because you also need the locals to actually show up on track.

From someone on the west coast, something like 2/3 of the races are in the 2-7am timeframe. Thankfully there's F1TV, because otherwise RIP sleep.

Ferrari got shafted by concrete

On the Sky broadcast it was suggested that Sainz' penalty could've been nullified if all teams approved but 1 team objected. Crofty and later Zack Brown during an interview were clearly suggesting that that team was Mercedes (due to the battle for 2nd for constructors).

https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/comments/17xbn8h/ferraris_application_to_have_the_replacement_pu/ If you don't speak fluent lawyer, the first comment paraphrased it perfectly: The stewards note that in their opinion the rules are fucking awful and want to make it clear that they hate them. Please appeal to FIA I've never seen the stewards release a document like this before. They make it very clear they are against the decision they are forced to make.

https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/comments/17xbso1/fan_getting_kicked_out_by_police_at_the_start_of/ Fans getting kicked out by police because FP2 got delayed until an hour after the venue was originally set to close. The city that never sleeps decided people needed to go to bed. This is exactly as American as I expected out of this race. I'd be angry enough to file a chargeback if I had paid to be there.

Sad to see this race being on the calendar for 10 more years good lord.

Absolutely ridiculous that sainz a gets a 10 place grid penalty. If anything he and Ferrari should get an apology letter from the FIA. 2 years of planning this specific Grand Prix and then you get this scenario. As someone said, thank God he did not get hurt. It would have been a whole different tune if he had suffered physical damage

Ferrari had to pit him on that safety car for any shot at holding onto the win. Absolutely not on Leclerc there unfortunately.

Super unlucky by Leclerc. They really should've pitted him for new tires. He salvaged everything he could've out of that race. The Ferrari luck continues.
