They looked content expecting Mexico and Costa Rica to cover for their asses instead of just seeing the worst team in the hex to move on

Especially considering like with Pulisic USA actually have a star player like Donovan again to bang in the goals! it's just unbelievable that we seem to have this ~10 year gap of almost no players. u23s failed to qualify for the olympics twice and we had 14 people over 30 on our roster for these qualifiers. everyone on our team is either under 24 or over 31 so we're missing a whole core of a team that should be in their prime. huge indictment of our system https://i.imgur.com/05Fxuis.png our shit youth squads started to catch up with us, but it should still be a walk in the park for this team to qualify through concacaf. the region is so weak. this team just cant be asked to put 2 decent performances together back to back. they 6-0d honduras and 4-0d panama in this hex but turned around and lost to trinidad? sure costa rica and mexico have put some good teams together and are talented but we should never finish below 3rd in this region as it stands

Pulisic is probably as good or a better player than Donovan ever was imo. Totally born in the wrong country.

It's not a shock that most of our best players are all based in Europe. but our federation seems fine with having the face of our team all be from MLS and then wonder why we are getting knocked out by teams whose stars are also MLS level. They got butthurt at Klinsmann for saying it and I'm not saying he's the greatest coach ever but I think he made very good points about a bunch of our players bailing on mid level EU teams to come back and make money in MLS. Hopefully the next group of 16-23 year olds that are heading out over there pan out or we're screwed

Totally born in the wrong country. Yeah USA just build the team around him and put him some legs around him and build that way. Instead by what Shellshock telling me is they have alot of 30 plus players who aren't good enough around him. Plus clearly are playing the wrong style tactically if they are getting beaten all over the field, possession, shots etc etc what do they bring to the table right now? Just counter attacks is it? In a federation which just has Mexico as the biggest nation of football to compete against ?

The combined value of their players is considerably lower than that of some weaker European sides like Austria, Bosnia or Slovakia, and those did not qualify either. There will be way better teams than those that will also not qualify. I realize their competition is weaker but once in a while you are bound to not qualify with that kind of player material.

Only Di Maria and Messi were playing yesterday. Dybala doesnt get to play because he looks a bit lost when hes playing. Hes basically a Messi type player and you cant be Messi with Messi on the team. They have to figure that one out before the WC because hes to good not to play. Di Maria is ok, he can create space but he is woefully inconsistent. Higuain sucks when it matters period. Aguero was not available because of his Dutch incident. The attack yesterday was basically Messi and Di Maria playing by themselves while a bunch of jobbers in midfield passed the ball around aimlessly or passed it back to Ecuador. Also... + Show Spoiler + USA ! USA ! USA ! US.... A.. U...S....A..... U....S.... U...... Oh I forgot to mention I was referring to the stat whereby no other Argentine player has scored in the last 11 months or something. But yeah they really need to sort this out before WC starts. Messi needs all the help he can get.

Argentina sucks, but a World Cup with them in is always more fun. Was rooting for them to get through so that I can watch them fail miserably in the tournament ![]() Germany is looking scary & solid. Hoping to witness a Brazil x Germany rematch. Wouldn't be surprised if the deutsch tied with us in World Cup wins.

Someone else scored against Brazil. But they didn't score many goals anyway. They scored same as Venezuela which finished last. When you see their line up it's crazy... But in the previous world cup it was the same. They need a real coach at some point, I'm hoping Sampaoli can do some magic in the next 8 months but it feels like all the other players just underperform and rely on Messi to do everything. He's the best, but not good enough to beat Spain/Germany on his own..

This leaves us with: 16/11/16 Argentina 3 - 0 Colombia <<< last official non-Messi goal 24/03/17 Argentina 1 - 0 Chile <<< Messi 28/03/17 Bolivia 2 - 0 Argentina 01/09/17 Uruguay 0 - 0 Argentina 06/09/17 Argentina 1 - 1 Venezuela<<< own goal 06/10/17 Argentina 0 - 0 Peru 11/10/17 Ecuador 1 - 3 Argentina <<< 3x Messi So the statistic is kinda pointless. Because while it is true, that no other Argentinian player scored this year so far (in competetive games), before this last game, Messi also scored only once.
