Bayern vs hertha had some close matches in the past and i think this could be closer than ever because herha is on a run and we struggled vs Ingolstadt.

More important is being able to keep the ball so that it can be distributed to the flanks as well as through the middle. If the team can only go through one side and one player like vs. Watford and put in useless crosses then it's even worse than last year's attack. Pogba is doing a lot of things badly but I think most damaging is that he's not used to the pressure in PL so he can't control the ball or the game. Otherwise he seems strong and fast enough even if he's not bursty. Blind at DM might actually be good as he can put in accurate long range passes and generally has good defensive instincts. His main problem is being too weak, too slow, and bad in the air which can't happen at CD. Sounds to me you need someone exactly like Schweini...

I'm a bit afraid to have that game so early in the season when both teams aren't fully operational, Atletico's game plan being easier to execute... But I have faith in bearded blond Messi! Did he say any reason for that crazy image change? While I never liked him as a person I always liked his looks, but now lol

They need Carrick and they will be fine in a 4-2-3-1 with Pogba alongside him and Rooney 10 or 4-3-3 with Rooney and Pogba alongside Carrick or something. Or even straight 4-4-2 rooney and ibra with pogba and carrick in middle.

maybe France was the reason why Ibra looked like Pele for the past 3 years ?

And Balotelli's problem has never been a lack of abilities, he's just on too much or not enough medication. From what I've seen of ManU this season, Ibra has been decent in the 2-3 attacks they get every game. Their midfield is a mess and some seem very frustrated at Rooney, who hasn't exactly looked top tier fit for a few seasons now. This season he has shown brief flashes of Premier League quality. That said, this match looks a little bit better, Rooney seems to be playing higher up and even making some runs. Too static attacking has been their biggest problem this season, Swansea is another team in the PL with the same issue. But then again, Northampton isn't exactly Premier League quality and still they need a fortunate break to get a decent attack going for the goal. e. LOL that Rashford goal. Have to feel for the keeper.

United could have Modric as their central midfielder for all I know and it wouldn't solve the issue because everyone else upfront would still give it away eventually. You pretty much need to turn United into Barcelona for that to happen, especially in the EPL environment where it's much more physically demanding. So the easiest fix to that is finding someone like Kante who has the stamina and speed to cover the bases, which is also Mourinho's trademark style with Makelele at Chelsea, Cambiaso at Inter and Pepe at Real Madrid.

Even Pogba is starting to realise that the amount of space he has now is far less than what he used to do back in Italy, where he could work his magic. Oh please, the high pressure in the EPL? I have seen Schweini cope with very high pressure just fine. The reason guys like Pogba or Schweini who come from abroad struggle are their own disjointed teams who don't give the right passing options and who have not build the right mechanisms for pressure evasion etc. The level of tactical cohesion in most EPL teams last year was atrocious compared to teams like Juventus, Barcelona, Bayern, Dortmund. It wasn't individual quality that held English teams back internationally over the last years. Which is why ManCity will dominate if Guardiola manages to build up a well-oiled machine like he used to in his other teams. Klopp and Conte could also be successful, if they can successfully implement their ideas in a foreign environment (which is much harder than doing it in their home countries Italy and Germany).
