when he actually stays up top he is incapable of receiving the ball and turning towards goal which causes him to either backpass it or spray it out to the wings. the very rare occasion he finds himself in space he will attempt a failed through ball/one-two pass (due to congested defense) or go for a shot (which hasnt worked out for him in a while). overall hes just not good enough anymore. he was never that good technically but now that his physicality is deteriorating quickly hes just a liability imo if we had to play rooney in this team i would put him at cdm as he has the work rate/aggression to hassle opponents and hes a good enough passer to do his part there, but theres no way rooney would hold that position and mou wouldnt want him there anyway

A tough spell coming up and frankly he needs to cut Rooney, play Ibra and Rashford or may just play his inter style of a stacked midfield and give Ibra ball and Ibra win you game. Tough month let see what Mou and friends have got. I mean with the Rooney thing. where does it stop before you say no more. Mou goes and says.. well hes not a central striker, but hes not a pure midfielder either. Now Im hearing he can play DM. Why not just stick him at left back then when Luke Shaw is out ? I think you have to accept the poor guy is past it or just needs a kick to the bench for a while. Its amazing to me that everyone can see it but Mou (who is literally the harbinger of "I will make unpopular decisions in the interest of the team") cant see it or doesnt want to see it.

Because Mou has been trying to sign Rooney since forever and now that he finally has him he's awful haha. On September 20 2016 16:40 Arevall wrote: Rooney has been hilariously bad. Mou really needs to bring out the best of his players - because he has a decent team on paper. And lol@Luke Shaw. After defending like that you can't complain if you get hung out. Yeah it's horrible to watch, but it's not just Rooney though. Against us on Thursday United looked even worse, barely stringing a couple of passes together, and that was with a midfield with Pogba, Herrera and Schneiderlin. I haven't watched Utd well and often enough to understand the problems, but I don't think dropping just Rooney is going to be enough for them to start making an instant comeback.

They might be able to get more points than they deserve but it will not be enough. Arsenal and Tottenham are incapable of winning anything, they will always have a shit period that ruins things. Chelsea has too many point losing flaws and will be unable to be as solid as they need to be. Leichester won't even get close to defending the title. And none of the dark horses are dark enough to grab the title i think. City has the best team and the best manager. Well I guess I agree for the most part except City have the best manager ![]() I'll gladly concede he's the best manager if he wins the PL and also 1 more CL

![]() But holy crap we rely on our 37 year old centre back so fkn much it isn't even funny. Ivanovic worst game of his life on Friday with the armband and now Cahill trying his best to succeed him however with his goal he might be able to redeem himself. Jesus, oh well. Come on Chels sort it out!

After defending like that you can't complain if you get hung out. None of the current midfielders at United has good pace, that's the main weakness that has been going on since even before Ferguson retired. Against top tier opponents, it's obvious that they'll just get ran over (see De Brunye). Against lesser tier teams, they're exposed to counter attacks. At this point I'd rather we play Fosu-Mensah on right back (whatever happened to that kid though? He was very promising in a few Van Gaal's games) and put Valencia as a defensive midfieder just to make use of his strength speed. Fellaini, Rooney and even Pogba can't chase for shit. Edit: On the Rooney's matter, I don't think Mourinho has the same level of backing that Pep has at City when he benched/booted Hart (who is very similar to Rooney in the City's squad). Mourinho sure as hell doesn't want to start a shit storm in his squad by benching the most influential player in the team at the moment, unless the board gives him the green light, which is very unlikely. Mourinho was just the right man for the job: getting United back on track of a championship contender in a year or two. Pep was hired to rebuild City and turn the team into an empire. On one hand I somehow don't think the team will play much differently without Rooney on the field, it's not like Herrera or Schneiderlin is consistently better. But on another, I do feel the urge of wanting a change, for better or worse.

Blind at DM might actually be good as he can put in accurate long range passes and generally has good defensive instincts. His main problem is being too weak, too slow, and bad in the air which can't happen at CD.
