Thank god

They were really close to beating themselves. Deserved win though, would have been a shame to not win today.

edit: Talking of relegation Leyton Orient who have been in decline for a while have finally been relegated from football league. Hopefully the club will bounce back and at the least keep going. But been 6km away from White Hart Lane and about the same distance to The Emirates to the west and with West Ham making the move to the Olympic Stadium about 2km away there is so much competition from much more glamerous teams for supporters in the local area. It must be a bit tough for a fan in the local area watching your club slowly die and all the kdis growing up to support the bigger teams. The club now has to try and sell tickets for non-League football with those clubs basically in walking distance.

But I struggle to identify how our future back line should be. Ake is not imposing in the air unlike Cahill. Feels dangerous to have both him and Azpi in the lineup. Maybe zouma in the middle would help things? Oh well who am I, Antonio knows....

Stockdale (18' minutes og, 39' minutes og) This what a bad day in goal for David Stockdale looks like.

Hard to blame him for them, though. What keeper wouldn't make the dive for shots like that. Just had the bad luck that both of them rebounded off the crossbar into his back and into the goal.

Back line is the interesting one for sure, Ake is far better on the ball than Cahill and definitely faster, just needs experience to know where to be etc. Dave captain last night was back to his best after a bad performance at Yanited which he doesn't normally have tbf. Don't forget next season we are linked with Bonucci etc and then we have Christenson who is the best defender in bundesliga according to stats who will be finishing his loan spell at gladbach! Plus as you say Zouma will definitely be ready next season to fight for a place. Zouma Luiz Cahill/Bonucci/Christenson/Ake then have Dave as a wingback? I don't know it's an intriguing one. The game yesterday was just great for confidence though, after a tough defeat we bounce back beating our nearest rivals 4-2 in the cup with a big shift from everyone and we can now go into the Southampton game ready to play again. Come on Chels!

Even as an opponent I've always had respect for Kompany, who is a great professional. He's been so unlucky with injuries. Based on these semi-final performances, Chelsea can already start planning their open top bus parade. Spurs vs. Chelsea would have been a good final, shame.

Come on Chels! Dave is brilliant in defence. Nothing gets passed him, except aerial balls. And that's the issue. Have him in your back three, and you're vulnerable. But place him at wing back, and you have a useless flank in offense. Dave is really a big puzzle. He's playing way too well to be dropped, but you can see dangers with him around. Argh.
