Even though you get a fat bonus and you can sell all your top players, the rest of the club isn't bigger overnight. Building a bigger (real) fanbase takes a lot of time, the stadium, facilities and staff didn't get an upgrade, etc.
In NL, we had AZ and Twente getting the '09 and '10 league win respectively, which was also somewhat unexpected. A couple of years later, it turns out Twente overspent and they're currently still fighting for financial security, while AZ settled back into their normal subtop EL qualifier spot. It's interesting to see what Atletico or Leicester can do in the long run...

It's interesting that every top competition in Europe have had underdog champions within the past decade or so except for PL. You'd have to go back to Blackburn with Shearer. I don't think Leicester have any chance of challenging for the title again. The best case for them would be to become another Tottenham, and even Tottenham got to where are they now with a lot of failed experiments and a very very good chairman. Leicester don't have the same infrastructure, most importantly a top academy, or the same financial backing. They have a lot of in-form players, but no one knows how they will play next season assuming they all stay.
Arsenal took their head scout already, so I imagine it'll go something like, they'll spend a lot of money into strengthening the squad because they need to for CL. Some of the big signings will be busts. The team chemistry won't be the same, and they'll finish in a Europa spot next season. Then Mahrez/Kante leaves and it's back to square one. Ranieri has also never won a title let alone repeat. Meanwhile the top teams with better academies and more money will stay top with an endless supply of talent.

At this rate Arsenal has fallen back to ManCity points. That's fucked up. And City is near United points lel..
Not sure if EPL is competitive or everyone is playing like crap lol

Athletico has a real chance at becoming a big deal in Spain by being in Madrid and having a system based around a manager that is a club guy. If the foxes can survive the cl workload next year and not overspend then it's a discussion.

Bro Blackburn was no real underdog. They spent mad money that year. Or what was mad money at the time anyway.

Our worst team was the only one advancing in EL, they were lucky enough to draw Galatasaray and now Sparta Praha, but they're not going so far. Roma and Juve are not going to beat Real and Bayern. I don't think we'll pass you in the next few years anyway.

No it wasn't. One from goalkeeper fucking up clearance into tap in, other one from clear dive pen.
