I really love your excitement about the english team.^^ But sorry, as far as I can remember England often did well in qualifaction just to disappoint at the actual tournament later. Germany, in contrary, often played average in quali but went far in the tournament. Qualification means nothing, cards get mixed again when the Euro starts. England champion - I just don't see it happen. We probably won't win it either but I think we still have a better shot at it than England. Best team in qualifiers for World cup in Europe last season was Netherlands and Germany. Which where the two best teams from Europe 9W 1D both England were 6W 4D in contrast. Stats lets go, England will be marching into the competition as the most inform side
Haha ok, I concede. Seems like nothing can break your enthusiasm. England is clearly the best team in the world. I just hope you don't land too hard

So what the hell does Klopp do in a week to ensure that Liverpool beats Spurs, he can't buy or sell or even loan out...
|
the players realise they are playing for a klopp team with klopp tactics and they step it up

New manager effect, but Spurs will manage a draw. 1-1. I like Klopp, I just think Liverpool are crap. Look at their next five games, I would love for him to do well, but just as happy to laugh at pool. Spurs, Southampton, Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Man City. Not the easiest of games for Klopp to get the fans on his side. They might come away with 5 points from 15 with these games.

We have a saying in Germany: A good horse jumps no higher than it has to.
Qualifiers and friendlies have only very limited predictive power when it comes to tournaments. Those weeks before and during the tournament are what counts. This is when national teams are moulded anew and rapidly improve.
Not to say England's run isn't impressive. It will be interesting to see this new and more promising England in a real tournament.

Klopp coming to the Premier League is awesome. But I don't know what even he can do with Liverpool. Their new stand looks more awesome everytime I see a new photo of it by the way.

But then they probably won't do that and we'll probably lose the final game vs Italy and then we'll face a reformed and vastly improved Netherlands in the playoff and then we don't get to go to france A reformed and vastly improved Netherlands. I hope you're right in this one but I doubt it.

And you have that locked up with this win im pretty sure

no not at all. when calculating best third, games against bottom team is removed. if you calculated it right now and you regard norway as #3 rather than #2, Norway would have 13 points. Currently the best third is Hungary, with 15. For Norway to get 16 points in the fight for third, we'd have to beat Italy, and if we do that, we win the group anyway. So basically best third is impossible for us.

Oh fuck after typing a long math post I realized that my main premise was incorrect, greece certainly last in their group even if winning last game because faroe islands beats them head 2 head
spoilering it cause it feels bad to just delete it + Show Spoiler + There's actually a lot of funny math with the best third I'm seeing now. Especially Hungary's group makes it immensely unpredictable. The reason is Greece being the last team in the group, because they lost twice against Faroe Islands.
Anyway, right now, you have Hungary with 15 points as the clear leader of the pack. Republic of Ireland and Ukraine are the only countries with a theoretical chance at surpassing them, Ukraine needing a win against Spain (home field) and Ireland needing a win against Poland (away field). Well actually Ireland would pass Poland, and Poland would only have 12 points, so that group represents no threat either. Then we're left with only Hungary and Ukraine fighting for best third. If Ukraine wins, they might pass Slovakia if Slovakia doesn't beat luxembourg, but then Slovakia would only have 14 points, so still Hungary.
So far, pretty straight forward. But what if Hungary loses against Greece? the reason why Hungary has so many points, is that they got to keep their should-be free points against Faroe Islands, while every other best third has had 6 points subtracted. in group F, Greece is the last team, Hungary tied against Greece, and has one match left to go against them - thus they've only been subtracted one point. Should Greece beat Hungary (without Faroe Islands getting a point against Romania), then Greece would no longer be last, Hungary would suddenly lose 6 points rather than the 1 they've currently lost (giving them 10 instead of 15 points - making them one of the worst third place finishers)!
So that would have been fun, but now it isn't. Hungary or Ukraine, those are your candidates.

Ukraine plays Spain btw, so i guess Hungary will get that slot.

yeah. equation for best third is basically this simple. A) Ukraine doesn't beat spain = Hungary advances. B) Ukraine beats spain = Ukraine advances. C) Ukraine beats spain and Slovakia doesn't beat Luxembourg = Hungary advances.

Holly Hell Exeter are actually on TV today. It's on at the same time as the Grand Prix but I'm sure I can watch both.
I doubt I will reconize a single player these days.
