Got it, yeah I was thinking OHP might be a bit iffy as well.

I actually feel remarkably better so I'll probably try with deloaded amounts next Monday if I feel good :DD

Failed a planned 475 deadlift double today. Got it to my knees, possibly could have ground it out if I wanted to sit there with it, but decided it wasn't worth it and let it go. Almost feels like I've wasted 10 weeks of training my deadlift, since that's how long it took me to find my good positioning again. Pull has been all over the place in that time, but it's feeling really great the last three weeks.

Called it there because I wasn't in the right mental space for the rest of the workout, I'll try it again tomorrow and probably put up 465 instead with better preparation. Hopefully now that things feel nailed down, I can get something out of this next training block and wind up back at least at my previous PR if not stronger.

damn deadlifing again after a training session with a failed lift?

have you gained any weight? are you at caloric surplus?

Wouldn't really call it a training session. I warmed up, went for the top set and called it there when I couldn't pull it. No backoff sets, no RDLs or good mornings, no lat pulldowns or rear delt flies that I would have followed it with, just cleaned off the bar and left.

I'm up 1-3 lbs depending on the day from when I started this training block 11 weeks ago which is right where I want to be. Just a lot of little things that were off about the day and I think I'll give it a better shot with a do over.

First training block I've ever done them. Felt like trying a new thing to see how it went. I'm doing them for 10-ish reps with around 135 at the moment, and they're probably something I'll come back to in the future, but not something that's useful enough to me right now that I'm going to continue doing them as I enter my actual strength/Meet prep block.

Power snatched 118kg yesterday which I haven't done in 6 years. Probably the best I've felt in years. Nearly forgot what it was like to make genuine progress and how good it feels. Bw down to a pretty lean ~99kg as well.

I wonder if Luck was on some hardcore NSAIDs for his shoulder when he injured his calf.

People on hardcore anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs) for many months and develop a new injury while on the NSAIDs often struggle to heal from the newly acquired injury. According to the rheumatologist in my family this happens to arthritis patients a lot.

ya, that's a good point. Andrew Luck has gone way above and beyond most NFL-ers though.

Andrew Luck used some European thing called Regenokine as an anti-inflammatory. Its pretty experimental and not approved in the USA. Not many NFL-ers take their quest to reduce inflammation as far as Andrew Luck has.

Yeah people in contact sports use it way too much. I pretty much never take it for rugby, maybe a few times a year for weightlifting meets. Never understood the point of masking pain consistently instead of just fixing the pain.

I finally hit a good rhythm with my eating and my training again. Back to around 109kg bw and I am at 1.7grams of protein per kg, which is massively higher than ever before. The -105class is back in sight for my meet in November.

Yesterday I pulled 8x182.5kg (400lb) for Deadlifts. Not majorly impressive, even for my standards, but it is still a rep PR on a day where nothing moved as fast as it should have.

Nice job!

Hit 130 snatch/150 cj yesterday with close misses at 135/160. About 6 weeks out from comp where I'll need a 301 total to qualify for the american open and 305 to qualify for nationals
