According to fifa it was a loan, which would become a gift if the Irish also wouldn't qualify for 2014, which happened. With the loan, there came an end to the lawsuit the Irish association was preparing. You could call it a settlement (if that'sthe right word). edit: the lawsuit would have been about the henry hands that qualified France for the 2010 wc. The Irish wanted a rematch I believe?

Has nothing to do with the game but Ronaldo, he got an elliptic attack few hours before the game. He was forced to play despite that incident. Official statement is now out: Guardian Blog It was a confidential settlement in order to avoid a lawsuit, the money meant to go to a stadium project that never happened. Just very fishy. They just made the point that they essentially did the same thing with Fox just this February.

Now we just need Hamburg to get caught in something dirty for great small team justice.

Seedorf did very good (Milan were second in terms of points won in the second half of the season) but wouldn't bow to Galliani/Berlusconi. Then Inzaghi bowed and got fucked by Galliani's "recruitment". He had very good results with youth teams but you could give the current Milan squad to an in-form sacchi and it would still be shit.

I fail to understand how someone could think hiring Mihajlovic would be good idea, knowing how difficult his character is it's hard to imagine him working under Berlusconi for a year.

Berlusconi isn't doing much these days, it's pretty much Galliani who's in control since Barbara Berlusconi failed to putch him out. Still not understandable, the only reasons would be some guarantees regarding the transfers and reducing Galliani's power but it's really unlikely to happen. On the other hand it could do a lot of good to the team, you can still get top 5 with only a few transfers (mainly getting off a few players and 1 or 2 decent buys in key posts) and Mihajlovic is a decent coach.
